Going in to this short read you would think it would be pretty identical to other storylines of angels and demons. After reading this you would be thinking differently to the way the author has tackled this narrative.

Warning spoilers are beyond this point.

Jahel is an angel and is captured as she was trying to find her charges soul in Hellsgate. She feels responsible for her charge being led astray. She is not only angelic but has a lethal and deadly weapon on her person at all times. Her Voice.
I picked this for, you guessed it - a challenge! HOWEVER, it was WAY too short :(

Demon's Fall was a super quick audio that was filled with some short stories about a, you guessed it - an angel and a demon. In it, you will meet Kenan and Jahel. Interesting names and they are pretty interesting characters. Kenan buys Jahel, because she's a caged animal. I mean angel. Instead of treating her as a slave, he ends up falling for her.

Color me shocked people. Now it's not just him falling for her, nope
The world-building is fascinating. Demons seduce or trick or steal souls from humans, which solidify as coins, the person's face on one side and true name on the other. The coins are used as currency. Angels protect humans but only take souls at death. If humans avoid either fate, and possibly also because of moral implications (unclear), they can choose the Third Way, where demons and angels are not allowed to go.

Incubus Kenan discovers an angel locked in a cage and buys her. She's come to Hel

Demon's Fall is a novella and ended up being quite a quick read. Yet, despite it's minimal size this story was packed with multiple plot lines, interesting characters and creatures as well as lots of action.

The main characters, Keenan and Jahel, were interesting from the start. Keenan is an incubus and Jahel an angel caught and sold as a slave in Hellsgate, a place were mortals and demons mix. Keenan is something of a scoundrel and there's a charm to him

Demon’s Fall is an interesting combination of a fairy tale, dark fantasy and biblical myths. I thought this really added to an atmospheric tone that was both haunting and memorable and these elements gave this a unique take on the setting. However I do wish the novella was longer because I felt it was too short and because the world-building was established and well thought out with these combined elements, there was definitely growth to explore the setting and expand the characterisations espec ...more
It has been ages, but you might remember that I’m taking part in the Horns and Halos Reading Challenge hosted by Aimee of my fluttering heart. I went fairly angel-happy at the start of the year. Then my interest tapered off, and I went the route of straight fantasy, zombies, and all that other stuff (fairy tales, anyone?). I am determined to finish strong, so when I had the chance to request a copy of Karalynn Lee’s Demon’s Fall from the NetGalley catalog, I took it.

I’ve been looking for a good dangle (that’s demon/angel) books since I finished Covet, yes, I am a J.R. Ward apologist and I’m not sorry. I’m a firm believer in sticking by the BDB author and like the illustrious Brittany Spears, I believe she will come back to us. She will bring back shivalinga to our poor starving Indian village. The inhabitants of Hellgate live on the human side of the veil, they’re mostly demons, or humans who have forfeited a vital part of themselves.

You see, demonic currency is unlike any currency we know on Earth. Theirs is a coin based economy, and their coins are infused with the souls taken from mortals. In this world, Kenan has done alright for himself. He’s a succubus, and as such, his seductive charms can persuade even the most stubborn mortal to give up her soul after a night in his arms. How

This was a quick, short read. I really liked the concept of the story. We have an incubus, Kenan, who goes to a sort of slave auction in Hellsgate, and gets himself an angel, Jahel. She is in desperate need to get back the soul of the young girl she was assigned to. So Kenan convinces her that he will help her, and they set off in a chase through Hellsgate of this girls soul, meanwhile they start developing feelings for each other. They both fight the at

What worked for me:
* The world-building was beautiful, especially given that this was a short story.
* I loved the whole slave market rescue thing
* I REALLY liked that the incubus ended up pursuing the angel. I'm a big fan of "hero in pursuit" type stories to begin with, and to have a lot of her sexual interest be both simple curiosity combined with feeling as though she need to "repay" him, was just wonderful because it truly threw him for a loop.
* I liked the chemistry, and felt that the love s

Again sorry for the short blurbs I'm putting up lately just not enough time to write in detal.

Just wanted to say this is a sweet story with some very HOT scenes between Kenan an incubus and Jahel, an angel he buys at Hellsgate.

The story at times pulled at my heart as the love that was obviously developing between them two them had to put to question because of what they were and who they could love.

The story made the reader see that even though Kenon was a demon, and by nature classified as evil

This is a really good short book! The sex scenes are very descriptive so it is not for anyone under the age of 16. Jahel and Kenan have an interesting relationship. I was kinda sad to see the story end so quickly! Very quick read!

I felt like Jahel gave in a little too quickly after Kenan bought her, but I guess things had to happen quickly since this was only 75 pages long. It was a good short story. Wouldn't mind learning more about Tiras and his backstory.
Trying to get back the lost soul of a girl she was supposed to protect, the angel Jahel gets captured in Hellsgate, a town right before Hell proper; caged and eventually sold to an incubus demon named Kenan. Although he initially only has intentions to capture Jahel’s soul, he comes to like the angel and eventually aids her on her mission to reclaim the lost soul of her protegée. As his feelings for Jahel are growing beyond simple attraction, he learns that Jahel is not the only angel who got lo ...more

It was a very well written book and the plot was engaging. The adage "opposites attract" applies to this book. You have a demon falling in love with an angel. They go thru all the strife of a couple who aren't suppose D to be together. It was a romantic story. I would like to see what else this author has written.

I’m always intrigued by stories that feature an angel-demon dynamic and interweave Biblical beliefs. I won’t lie – I have a degree in Biblical Studies so I’m a bit of a snob for when things are taken and twisted to be something else. However, those that either do it well or create their own world are the ones to be really admired.

Demon’s Fall creates it’s own world; I was never certain what time period to call it, which made it all that much more interesting. The bulk of the story takes place in

Demon’s Fall is a sweet, almost novella-length paranormal erotica story where Kenan, an incubus, purchases a captured angel, Jahel, with the intent to collect her soul through his incubus powers – sex of course. Kenan collects souls, which once extracted from a person/being, become token coins. With the purchase of Jahel, he sees her angel soul as the ultimate soul that would be in his collection. Demon’s Fall is a story about love and redemption. It also has a modern twist on Snow White. Jahel follows the soul of a young girl she was watching to Hellsgate and ends up captured herself. She is bought at market by Kenan, who sees the angel as a challenge.

Kenan is used to woman falling all over him because he is an incubus. He seduces women for their souls and those coins are used as

Jahel is an angel ready to be sold. Yeah. You read it right. Sold. After being captured in a city with mostly demons and lost souls, that was her destiny: being in a cage, waiting for the one who will buy her. The surprise is when she ends up being bought by a demon, Kenan. Could it be the beginning of her end?

His intentions clearly aren't the best, as we could expected from a demon. It is obvious that her end wil

How do you critique something for being exactly what it says on the tin? That's the question I'm left with after reading Demon's Fall, because it's exactly what it looks like: a pretty plot-thin softcore porn. I'd probably have declined to review it if I hadn't already blindly accepted the request from NetGalley, so here we are.

What the summary doesn't tell you about Demon's Fall is that it is short. Very short. Like 75 pages short. So there's not a lot of room for development, or a very complex

When Kenan, an incubus, comes across an angel for sale at Hellsgate marketplace, he decides to buy her. Kenan plans to gain her trust, so that he can get close to her and gain her soul for his collection. Jahel, the angel, has come to Hellsgate trying to retrieve the soul of one of her charges from a Hellhound. When Kenan offers his aid, Jahel accepts and hopes to return to Heaven soon.

DEMON'S FALL is a paranormal romance with a likable hero and heroine and an interesting premise. I only have on
Considering the length of this novella, it packed a lot of story into it. There's danger, intrigue, sexiness, a quest of (moderately) epic proportions, powerful beings and the threat of apocalypse. It doesn't get much better than that.

This is the type of angel/demon story that works for me. I like it when they skirt the edges of theology without coming across as preachy. If that makes sense. I like the idea of angels and demons (especially when they end up romantically linked) but I don't care f

3 Stars! Angels and demons and incubus's....Oh, my!! Karalynn Lee did some very creative world building with this one!

Carina Press was so kind to make Demon's Fall available for free for a short amount of time. However, this novella was not my cup of tea.

When the incubus Kenan sees a captured angel at the infamous Hellsgate market, he has to have her. What he doesn't know is that Jahel is not an ordinary angel, but one with the ability to steal his heart...

I found it highly unlikely for an angel to instantly lust after a demon. Isn't that entirely against every instinct an angel has? Shouldn't she be disgusted
