This book will capture your attention in the first few pages. The central character is a young man surviving the unfavorable odds of growing up in Detroit as the child of a drug-addicted mother which a debilitating secret and dismissive, uncaring father. Cameron's story presents all of the stereotypic challenges to young black boys/men growing up in public housing. Excellent book! I was happy to see that Cameron and Rayshawn were able to rise up from their rough beginnings and make a successful life for themselves. The ending was simply perfect!
