The first in a planned series of three books, L'arpenteur (The Surveyor) offers readers a new perspective on the dream-like imagery and engaging narrative techniques that earned the original Arzak its mythic status.

First in an unfinished trilogy begun by Jean "Moebius" Giraud shortly before his death in which he tries to explain the universe and setting of his most famous creation - a wandering pterodactyl-riding warrior in a surrealistic fantasy world. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, but he creates an interesting and somewhat complex story that seamlessly merges spaghetti westerns with space opera and sword-and-sorcery. The artwork is also as usual fantastic... a pity he didn't get to complete it, b ...more

There is something about the clarity of Moebius' drawings that fills me with awe.
Sad that Moebius passed away before he could finalize the trilogy, as Arzak requires much more development in order to work as a successful story.

For a long time there was no sense, and just when things started to get interesting, it ended. Great art though, loved it.

Moebius' last album, first of a series of 3 never to be completed. In good Moebius tradition, upon finishing it I am flooded by questions. But then again: if he had been able to finish the series, I'd probably be left with even more questions. It seems to have inherited that same amazing quality that made The Hermetic Garage such an amazing work of art: the more you read it, the more questions get answered and the more answers get questioned. Grand cru!

Arzak revient !

Moebius' master piece; bizarre, fantastic, gritty and fascinating.
The stories of Arzak work without works, using a language beyond letters; one of images, expressions and atmosphere.

Moebius was a genius in creating strange dream (as well as nightmare) like worlds that would suck you right in and never let you go again.

Fantastiskt fin utgåva av Moebius sista, tyvärr ofullbordade, verk. Hade dock behövt en korrekturvända till.
