A tool for every job. A belt for every occasion…

Blue Jeans and Hard Hats, Book 2

Food is Rosie’s life, and life is good. She loves it, makes it, serves it in her diner, writes about it in her blog, and she’s happy. At least until a storm puts a rather large tree limb through her roof, and a sex-in-a-tool-belt roofer on top of her cabin.

But that’s not where she wants him. No, she wants him behind her with a strip of leather in his hand. That’s what makes her edgy—vulnerability is not her style. Except the more prickly she gets with him, the more he turns on the charm.

Decker arrives in Blue Ridge, Georgia, with nothing on his mind but a job and some new scenery. His legendary patience is tested from the first moment he meets sharp-tongued Rosie. She’s got hips that sway, non-stop curves and a mouth that needs to be filled with things that are much sweeter than vinegar.

A few singe-worthy kisses, and Decker uncovers passions that will likely earn her every red stripe she’s begging for. And Rosie discovers Decker’s got a hunger burning deep inside to give her anything and everything she needs. Maybe even…forever.

Between the sheets of this book you’ll find a twist on a decadent southern dessert, sweet rose wine, picnic table sexiness, truck sex, a man who knows how to give a spanking and a woman who knows how to bend over a hot yummy lap.

This BDSM went out of my comfort zone. It is well written just not my style. The heroine Rose is never degraded in anyway, but Rosie is in love with belts and being marked by them she loves the welts and the pain of it for days. In one scene she gets a spanking with a belt and makrs on her butt and across her back, another scene she is gagged and she gets a belt with holes, so they can been seen on her and he can feel them. There is also anal play and toys. I don’t know if some of you like this stuff or not, but you also get Decker making her with his semen. This is more of a medium level of BDSM. So if that’s more what you like this would be a great read.

Rosie needs a new roof and hires Decker to put it on for her, but what she didn’t know how much she would be attracted to him and his belts. As time goes they both find they cant fight the tension between them much longer.

You also get a peek from the characters from the first book too.

If you're a fan of Lissa Matthews', steamy, erotic reads this should be another book to add to your tbr list.

I was actually surprised the sex in this didn't start straight away. At 23% there still wasn't any inserting of tab A into slot B. Very surprising to me, but it definitely didn't take away from the story. And when the bumping uglies did eventually start happening it was in typical Lissa Matthews style. No holds barred, explicit as hell, kinky, naughty sex.

Lissa has a smooth writing style which makes devouring her stories easy and enjoyable. And being a short story, I gobbled this up in no time.

Decker and Rosie are a great fit. Rosie needing the firm hand (and belt) of a dominant male and Decker truly loved giving Rosie the spankings she craved.

I'm not overly into BDSM, however this wasn't as full on as some of the erotic romance books I have read in this genre recently. Rosie received what she craved and although pain in the bedroom (or front porch) isn't my style, it worked with them.

This is a quick, hot little read to get the blood pumping. The ending also has more of an abrupt 'happy for now' instead of a 'happily ever after' but it was still a great read.

All I have to say is YUM! Well ok I actually have a lot more to say than that... *wink* I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the book by Lissa Matthews, as you know I have enjoyed a number of her books (mmmm Vinter) one of which was Sweet Caroline; the first in her Blue Jeans and Hard Hats series. I loved Sweet Caroline and I loved Cracklin' Rosie too. I read it on a plane heading to Spain, I am not the worlds greatest traveller, not because of sickness or fear (although landing and take off are not my favourite things to do) I am the one who gets bored! Sat still in a sardine can... books are my salvation! And this one completely transported me somewhere else so I could forget about the two teenage girls sat next to me who were giggling over Edward! Nothing against Twilight, read it- quite enjoyed it, but these teenagers have SO much to learn and hopefully will discover some of the vamp books we all love!

Sorry I got distracted, Cracklin' Rosie, I need to find this town where they all live and move there and get my roof fixed, or fence built or something, I definitely need this kind of handy man and I hear they have friends. The novel is sexy and fun, the characters are interesting and endearing. Rosie is someone who has been self reliant for most of her life but she has a secret, no-one (bar her best friend) knows but Decker is about to fulfill all her fantasies. He is teasing and playful and down right hot! If you want a short story with hard. hot and sexy men, women with a voice and a little kink, then let Cracklin' Rosie into you life.

I really enjoy Lissa Matthews writing style, the mixture of hard and soft and sentiment and humour, all tied up with interesting characters and a kinky cherry on top! Great fun.

I give Cracklin' Rosie 4 frilly knickers out of 5. A definite damp panty read.

The two stars this book got were strictly for the hero, Decker. The heroine, Rosie, was one of the most annoying heroines I've come across.

Rosie is nasty, full of snark, and sometimes mean. Decker was patient, understanding and fully invested in trying to help Rosie be true to herself. I have no idea why Decker was so interested in Rosie. There was nothing so great about her that made me think she was worth it.

Part of the problem with this book was that Rosie was so rude to Decker for an absolutely ridiculous reason. You see, Rosie likes to be spanked but she's terrified that someone in the town will find out. How will they find out? I have no idea. Is everyone in town peeping in her windows? Trust me, Rosie, you're not that important. Decker even points out multiple times that there was no way people would know what they did in the bedroom. I agreed with Decker because not knowing that there was very little chance of anyone finding out, well, just made Rosie look ridiculous.

Decker also points out that people really don't care if he and Rosie are a couple. They wouldn't be any different than all of the other couples in town. Rosie really needed to get over herself. Decker had to tell her about how no one would care they were a couple because Rosie was ashamed to be seen with him. Right there I wanted Decker to realize that Rosie was a self-absorbed woman who wasn't worth his time. I wanted Decker to walk away because Rosie didn't deserve him.

I can't remember ever disliking a heroine as much as I disliked Rosie. Wait, that's not true....but Rosie is definitely on the top ten list of heroines I wanted to smack some sense into.

And I was also given this book from the author to review for my honest thoughts! So here we go...

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

Man oh man - where do I start. Okay, first I need to get the preliminaries out the way and tell you that this is book two on Ms. Lissa's hard hat and blue Jean series. As a reviewer, it is my job to tell you that you do have to read them in order. Ms Lissa does a marvelous job of giving us everything we need to know what is going on. However, as your friend it is my duty to shake the hell out of you, scream and shout at you until you break down and read Sweet Carolina. I mean really one word - Buck. Enugh said. Okay so I love, lust and am infatuated with the man. But damn, can u blame me. No if you knew him too, you wouldn't blame me. Okay, moving on - Buck has friends!!!! Omg!!!! Hell yeah!!

**evil wicked glean in the hussy's eyes**

Okay, moving on to Cracklin Rosie's story. Let me just jump on Decker. I mean, let me just jump right on in with Decker. The man is Sex On A Stick. He oozes sex like honey out he hive. Oh hell, one look or grin from this man will make your panties wet. I promise. Maybe I should say that he is Sex With A Tool Belt and he knows how to use it. And I promise you will be begging him to use it.

Okay, I'm not done gushing about Decker but you came here for a review and that is what I'm going to give to you.

Rosie lives in a very small community in Georgia. A town where everyone knows everyone. That's okay with Rosie, she loves her town and takes great pride in her surroundings. Rosie owns a diner smack dab in the middle of town. Now that truly is her pride and joy. Her parents gave it to her as a graduation present after she finished culinary school. She worked there practically all her life and came to love it. Her diner, her home - a little cottage not far from work, her haven. Everything is as it should be - perfect. Until a roof lands in her kitchen and she needs someone to repair it. Staying emotionally detached from anyone in her community, Rosie is disturbed by what they handyman is offering to fix.

Decker loves his job. Construction, workin with his hands. Watching the job form from ground up and seeing what his two hands created. He loves traveling wherever there is work. He loved to freedom. Until Buck called him for a favor... Caroline has a friend that needs her roof fixed. Simple enough right, then move on to the next job. Decker though settling down was not for him until he met Rosie. She had him erecting more than just her roof. Ha!!

Okay my warning right off the bat - if you want sweet, tender, soft love/romance... You may want to skip this one. However, if you want hot, hard, dirty, sexy as hell loving - then this is for you. Decker and Rosie are two explosive people alone, get them together and Omg watch the fireworks go off!! They are amazing together. Rosie has so many walls up, will she allow Decker to use his skills as a handyman to break them down? Decker has loved being the go with the flow person, living and loving for the moment; but what happens when his heart meets the ass of a lifetime?? You will have to read to know what that means, evil ~me, never!!!! Haa Haa!!!

Ms. Lissa did it again with another story that rocked my world. Staying true to the kinky side of life is always sexy, but the way Ms. Lissa give us the story always make me itch for the things that seem to run amuck in a hussy's mind! Smutty, sexy and hot as hell, this is one hot story!!

We first meet Rosie in the first book of this series, Sweet Caroline. She's the waitress/owner of the local diner, and she's a pistol. A pistol with a fetish for being spanked. But due to the small town she lives in and their everybody knows everything about everybody else mentality....it has remained her dirty little secret. Until she meets Decker.

Decker is a friend of Buck (from book 1) and after Buck moves to the mountains to be with Caroline, he calls Decker and asks if he wants to go into business together. Shortly after sort of moving to the mountain town, Decker meets Rosie when she hires him to replace her roof. And he's a goner. He wants Rosie and he has a feeling she wants him - but she is stubborn and doesn't want to admit that she feels the same for him. Eventually she admits it, and somewhere in the conversation Decker also realizes that Rosie has thing for being spanked. And wouldn't you know it....Decker likes to spank.

I loved Decker. He's super sweet, hot as hell, and he's covered in tattoos. What's not to love? Rosie, as I said, is a pistol. A pistol that I sometimes just wanted to smack. I was all "Girl, you have this hot man lusting after you!! Stop running away from him!!" But in her defense, she had a strong fear of being in a relationship that might get a little kinky and might not be the "norm". And more importantly she was terrified of the people in town finding out about her fetish. She's a little paranoid about her kinks anyway, so I can see where she could take any potential relationship and mentally fast forward it to the point where it goes horribly wrong and then suddenly the ex has loose lips and tells everyone in town that she's a kinky wench. Ok, so maybe she's more than a little paranoid. But I come from a small town, so I can certainly understand where she's coming from.

The sex is hot and takes place all over - in a truck, in the woods, on a porch, and yes....even in a boring old bed. But I can promise you that the sex is anything but boring. As with all of this author's books, the sex is smoking hot. (And there is plenty of spanking for those of you into that sort of thing. *wink*)

I love this series, and the world that's been built for it. And I can't stand the wait for book #3. I just know it involves Cort and Blue. (Cort being a friend of Decker and Buck's.....and Blue being Rosie's childhood best friend)

Rosie loves food. She runs a popular food blog, and owns her own restaurant. Life is good for her and she is happy with the way things are. When a storm blows through, it drops more than just a tree on her house…it blows in a sexy handyman who is going to fix her roof…and destroy her easy going life with steamy dreams.

Now she not only wants him on top of her…roof that is, but behind her, under her, beside her. You get the point. But that will mess up Rosie’s easy going life. She realizes she wants him to give her the red striped bottom she longs for, but no one in the town knows her persuasion.

Decker comes to town on the recommendation of Buck, the hero from the first book in this series. He’s a wanderer who is ready to settle down in the lush beauty of Blue Ridge, Georgia. When his first job is to repair the roof of Rosie’s house, he is turned on by Rosie’s sharp tongue in more ways than one. He won’t let her slide by with her sharp comments, but pushes into her life with a few well placed kisses and a few well placed slaps on her behind.

Can he tame Rosie enough to let him into her life?

I loved Rosie…I mean loved her! She is an mature woman (not old) who has lived her life in small town Georgia doing what she loves. She can’t confide her need for spankings to anyone in town, so she drives to bigger cities to get what she needs from time to time. But when she sees Decker all she can think about is him, how he makes her crazy and turned on at the same time. She wonders what it would feel like to be spanked by him.

Throughout the story, Rosie keeps putting up roadblocks and Decker keeps tearing them down. He buys land next to hers and plans to stay on, thoroughly upsetting Rosie. She thinks she can play and he will leave, but that isn’t what Decker wants. He wants a curvy, mature woman to bend over his lap and let him play.

There are a lot of sex scenes in this book. Hot! Lissa Matthews has a way of making them all interesting and unique. The controversy of a onry woman and the younger man who wants to take her on is fun to read. Give it a try!

This really rates a 3.75 and a 4 for Heat. This is a short book, and the second in the series after Sweet Caroline. First of all, I hate the name. I know it is a song (but I didn't till I read the book), but it turned me off to the book when I have seen it before. Makes me think it's a cowboy book, and though I have read some really hot cowboy books.....handymen are way more my style! And the handymen in these books can have their hand-ies (haha hands?) on me in a sec! And their tools (haha tools?) are not only screwdrivers and hammers (haha hammer?), but crops, belts and toys.

Decker is Buck's friend (from Sweet Caroline). Buck has called him in to check out Blue Ridge, help him with local contracting work, and to hopefully recruit him into starting a business with him. Decker is replacing Rosie's roof. Rosie is an independent woman, fuller figured (I love this), mid-thirties (I love this too) woman who owns the local diner. But she is very snarky to Decker. Decker is very persistent.

Come to find out Rosie LOVES to get spanked, but is totally paranoid the whole town will find out. She travels hours away to go to a spanking club. (They have these? No sex, just spanking. Hmmm.) So she is very resistant to getting involved with Decker, but she can't stop eyeing his belts. Well, once they finally (about 1/3 into the book) get it on, it is HOT. I am definitely looking at my husband's belt differently!

This was a short, fun, sexy, hot story. It really had a story! And, I mean, look at the cover.....drool....

Living in a small town Rosie is positive that she must hide her sexual preferences and never embrace them. When Decker comes to town to fix her roof she is tested beyond her limits. She is more than just drawn to him and when he reveals his preferences to her she is a goner but she fights it all the way. Rosie must not give in to her needs. All she can think of his what others will think. Yet Decker will not give up on Rosie and the sparks they share.

Cracklin Rosie is a great story about love; not only loving another but yourself as well. Rosie is a strong woman who is fighting and denying what she wants deep down inside. I really liked seeing Rosie find herself and learn to embrace and enjoy herself with the help of Decker. He is a wonderful man who loves with all his heart and is more than willing to fight for what he wants. The two make a great couple, always ready and willing to enjoy each other.

This book is the second story in a great series full of wonderful characters with strong emotions. I loved Rosie, she endears herself to the reader as she finds the courage to love and embrace her real self. This is not only a hot read but also a great romance. I cannot wait to see what will happen next in this small town.

I must confess the first thing that attracted me to this series was the smokin' hot covers! Little did I realize, but I should have having read Lissa Matthews Masked series, that the story on the inside would be just as smokin' hot!

I enjoyed Cracklin' Rosie more than Sweet Caroline because of the slower development of the relationship between the two main characters. I liked Rosie when she was snarky, and defensive. LOL I don't know if it's because I too am a fan of the snark or if it just made her and the story more relatable for me. I understood her fear of small town gossip and even more her fear of letting go.

Decker is one hot man, and the way that he pushes Rosie and doesn't let her viper tongue get to him made me like him even more. But when he finally took her in hand, both mentally and physically, now that was exciting to read. I have a whole new appreciation for picnic tables!

The way that the author makes the town and the southern ways a part of the story adds even more to the story line and brought the town to life in my mind. I also like that her female character's are "real" women who have real curves and not some perfect barbie.

If you like your stories hot with a lot of kink as the yummy cherry on top then the Blue Jeans and Hard Hats series is definitely for you!

Rosie likes her quiet country life. She owns a diner that makes her very happy. The only thing missing is a hot guy to fulfill her sexual needs. Rosie has a dark secret and she’s afraid that if anyone in town finds out they will ostracize her. When Decker arrives in Blue Ridge to fix Rosie’s roof she knows she’s in trouble.

Decker is determined to win over the stubborn woman. He will go to great lengths to prove just how right they are for each other. Can Rosie get over her fears and embrace what is staring her in the face?

Cracklin’ Rosie is a spunky erotic story featuring a snarky heroine and a sexy steadfast hero. I liked Rosie’s smart mouth but I liked Decker’s determination more. He puts up with a lot to find his happily ever after. Crackin’ Rosie is a hot and spicy story.

Good ol fashioned smut. The ending was abrupt tho. While the sex are hot, the characters not so, especially the hero. He comes off as bossy rather than the dominant one, and I don't like how 'intuitive' he is to Rosie's feelings and insecurities. He must have a PhD is psychology that the author fails to mention.

and a double meh.

didn't even finish it.

like the first one, the story is supposed to feel like we're learning about the main characters. but frankly, all i learned is that there are a lot of people who like it rough. and who treat liking it rough like its some special personality trait.

3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4 because Decker is a sweetheart of a Dom. When he wants to be, that is.

Lots of belt action. Lots of talking - things got a little slow in the middle, but the action picked up nicely at the end.

Anyone sleep at the Red Roof Inn before?

The publisher's description is above...

I liked the 'hero', Decker quite a lot, but can't say much for the 'heroine', Rosie. I have this marked in my personal notes to NOT read again.
