Valle
The ominous Valle Faction vows to gain possession of what the Equites has hidden in the well protected Island Coven. Just as Emily thinks she’s found peace in the volatile world of the heku, she’s brutally ripped from the protective walls of Chevalier’s coven and thrown into the harsh reality of a Valle prison. Chevalier confronts the Valle and Equites Elders about Emily, and in doing so, endangers his own life. Compared with the first book, this one was really bad. I seriously don't understand why all the good reviews and I wonder if I read the same book.
1. The plot:
It doesn't have any plot. Have you seen a cartoon TV series? Problem after problem in every episode without any relation with each episode? That's what you'll find in this one. The book is problem after problem and is very annoying because all of them are because of Emily and her stupidity and ability of getting kidnapped or tricked.
2. Emily:
Emily is very annoying in this book. She got sick like 4 times and each time she's more stubborn than before, never wanting to cooperate with her doctor, her treatments, her medicines, etc. She's kidnapped like 5 times because of her stupidity and her lack of ability to follow simply rules and instructions. She acts like a spoiled teen in this one. Always complaining because she's boring and don't want guards following her (even after been kidnapped many times). She's always arguing with Chev in front of everyone every time he punishes a Heku for breaking a rule, even after he have explaining to her many times that he's chief enforcer and he have to be very strict with them. She's always making clear she don't want to be part of the coven and yet she's always sticking her head in Chev business... Seriously, if you like stupid girls in your books, go for it.
3. Chevalier:
I don't like him in this one. He's very violent with Emily. He attacks her like three times in this one and he's always hiding things from her and I don't like that in a relationship. I guess I'm all team Kyle in this one.
4. Love triangle:
Poorly developed. Kyle is in love with Emily, you got that from the first book, but in this one he acts like Chev's best friend! They even make inner jokes about Emily. You don't get any tension between Chev and Kyle, even when Chev knows he's in love with her, and Kyle acts very normal with Emily. There's no confrontation, sexual tension... nothing interesting happens between them.

It was really good. Can't wait to read the next one. Really great series. I think it's important to say that each book has read like a short novella, that when combined with the book before make up a larger novel. I like the way the author does this as more detail can be put into the book. I am however a little disappointed that we go from one big moment to a year later in one chapter, but by the same token I don't think much could have been done with that time.

I find reviewing these books quite difficult. One the one hand they are very easy to read and hard to put down. The story moves along quickly and there is no unnecessary filling. Then on the other hand the characters are shallow and 2 books into the series they have not really grown. The writing is simple, almost childish and that is reflected in the book. The constant arguements between Emily and Chevalier are like two spoilt brats stamping their feet to get their own way.
But for all the style can be irritating, following the lives of these totally opposite characters is quite addictive. The different culture of the Heku and the way the auther has successfully integrated them into the human world with most humans not even being aware of their existence is very well thought out and works perfectly.

Amazing story
The hehu world has captured my Imagination. Nelsen's plot is brilliant. Anyone who loves a good science fiction book will love the heku series.

Sarà l'argomento ma questa storia proprio non mi entusiasma. La trama sta comunque ingranando, sebbene troppo lentamente, per questo voglio concedergli il beneficio di un terzo libro prima di decidere se abbandonare la saga.
Tuttavia non posso non esprimere qualche critica, la più importante riguarda proprio i protagonisti.
Lei, bellissima, con le sue spaventose abilità pare proprio una Mary Sue. Peccato che sia testarda e intransigente, non si sforza di comprendere usi e costumi di una razza di "vampiri" millenari e giudica secondo il suo metro di giudizio; non dà retta a nessuno, infrange le regole imposte per la sua stessa sicurezza, finisce sistematicamente nei guai da cui viene sempre miracolosamente salvata, e quando la si contesta, risponde con arroganza e minacciando di abbandonare tutti. Si comporta come una bambina quando è una donna adulta e per giunta madre. Eppure lui la adora, anzi tutti la adorano. Inconcepibile.
Lui è talmente innamorato da sopportare i suoi scatti di temperamento. Di fronte a tutti gli altri è un granito, davanti a lei e alle sue ripicche si scioglie come neve al sole. Insomma, un po' uno zerbino. Poi c'è l'altro, non molto diverso da LUI, ancora però molto in sordina.

So I found this to be a book about Emily and her temper tantrums. The majority was about how Emily was bing a total immature little cow and chev and Kyle having to run around after her. With most conversations having a "can not" "can too!" "Can not" "can too!" Kind of vibe.
I find Emily stupid and immature and its no wonder they keep calling her child she acts like one most of the time. Run away Emily... That's a great idea.. What a brat
The saving grace is that I really love the heku ans the way of life. The idea of living on this remote island away from the world with a species of people so incredible is a really good concept.
I want more to happen though. They shouldn't put so much into Emily and her ways. Let chev be the powerful commanding heku he is meant to be. Don't bring him down a notch with Emily's BS.

The second in the series which follows straight on from the first. I personally didn't find this book as engrossing because it doesn't really add much more to the main characters.
Chevalier you don't learn much about except that he is working long hours and goes out a couple of times to do "his job" which he enjoys.
Emily keeps on being stubborn and arguing (seemingly) with every decision that has to be made. It is one thing to make a stand for yourself, especially when trying to find yourself after an abusive relationship, but to constantly argue over everything becomes "boring" for the reader. She has moments of bravery, courage and spirit that continues to keep my interest but on the whole, I'm afraid that she is lacking something.
So far, this has been a good couple of books. Will I buy the rest of the series - hhmmmm, not sure.

This was actually the first book of the series I read. I had just bought a kindle and was looking for free books when I found this. I love vampire books and this was a new take on vampires, so I gave it a shot. It was kind of confusing at first, given I hadn't read the first book, but I could easily understand what was going on eventually. This might be one of my favorites of the series, maybe because I read it first, or maybe because it has enough backstory to understand everything without the first book.

A lot more happen in this book than in the first. I enjoyed it just as much. But I hated Emily even more. Now she's just downright reckless! Again I wanted Chev and Kyle to stop going after her. It's one thing to mess up your own life, but when your actions will have a direct impact on someone else and you do them anyway that's just plain selfish! I feel like this series would be much better without her.

I'm really loving this series. I highly recommend giving this series a try. The first two books are free on Amazon. I'm going to be off to read book 3 soon. *winks* Though at times Emily is a spoiled brat that I like to shake at times and her never ending kidnappings because of her utter stupidity. Other than that I love the characters.

It's been over 2yrs since I started this book, I liked the first one but hated Emily from the get-go & she just gets worse (much worse) in this 2nd book, hence I just stopped! I scroll past it every time I'm looking for a new book & instantly roll my eyes. I'm sure the potential could have been great if the heroine was ... hmmm less dumb & annoying.

Now this one is even better than the first book in the series (Heku). This is where she starts to give more background on the factions (technically this is not a spoiler, since you have read the first book, and if you haven't, get back there and read it). A conclusion drawn from the book's names. At the end of this book, the Heku series became a permanent part of my daily life.

This book was absolutely amazing!!! The books seem to just get better and better. More enticing, more adventure, more of absolutely everything. Cannot wait to read the rest.The best way to describe it is adictive! One book that I will read over and over...

After reading the first two books in the series, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Emily is still being stubborn over the most stupid things and Kyle is quite annoying to me. I feel like I need to continue the series but don't want to continue to read more of the same.

I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the first book of this series. I really love Emily and Chevalier together and the Heku seem like an amazing species. I can't wait to read more.

Even though I get really irritated at Emily, this deserves another 5. Amazing book. I keep hoping Emily will end up with Kyle. He is amazing!
