Marching Bands Are Just Homeless Orchestras, Half-Empty Thoughts Vol. 1

Rate this book
From back If you're looking for glass-half-full affirmations, you're in luck. The bookstore or library is half full of that kind of crap. What you're holding here is a collection of quips and observations with a refreshingly gloomy, sometimes twisted, always funny take on life. Or lack thereof.

With illustrations by renowned artist Brian Andreas, this book is a glimpse inside the humorously askew mind of a writer whose witticisms have been featured on NPR, printed onto t-shirts, performed on stage in Germany, and posted online at the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times. He's been named one of the top ten funniest people on Twitter by the likes of Maxim, MSNBC, and Mashable.

"Tim Siedell clearly has no life, but he's extremely funny while not having one." Rob Reiner; Actor, Director, Writer, Producer

From Oxford University At some point, I think we’ve all asked ourselves, “When is the best time to start training a kitten to hold a knife?”

That question—written by Tim Siedell, a.k.a Twitter’s badbanana – is one of the expertly crafted one-liners you can find in his new book Marching Bands Are Just Homeless Half-empty Thoughts Vol 1. It’s the funnest/funniest book I’ve picked up in donkey’s years, and it’s also pretty and shiny and full of cool illustrations by Brian Andreas. Unless you hate puppies and America, you should give yourself and your minions this tremendous book... -by Mark Peters

Absolutely hilarious read. The illustrations add a new dimension to the wit and witticism of Mr. Tim Siedell. A must read for humor lovers.

Marching Bands are Just Homeless Orchestras is a (very) short book of hilarious one-liners by Tim Siedell, also known as @badbanana on Twitter. This book reads like the transcript of a Mitch Hedberg comedy routine, so if you like Mitch Hedberg you'd likely enjoy this too. The only downside of this book is that it is ludicrously short — I wish it had more hilariousness.

A sampling:

Edison said hard work was 99% perspiration, so whatever you do, don't drink it.

I would like martini bars better if they didn't attract the kind of people who like martini bars.

All we hear about is pain on Wall Street or Main Street. What about Sesame Street? People are living in trash cans out there.

When I want something a little healthier than an ice cream sandwich, I usually go for an ice cream salad.

I'm calling it a night because I'm too tired to get out a thesaurus.

Hilarious. I follow @badbanana on twitter. You should too. I was very excited to see this book. My only complaint is that it's not nearly long enough. literally: a 10 minute kindle read.
But I think you'll find his advice on meetings is invaluable.

I can't wait to see volume 2.

highly, highly recommend.

One of the funniest books I have ever read. Only took about 20 minutes but I laughed out loud through 90% of it. If you don't follow @Badbanana on twitter you should. He's just as funny in real life.

It's like a pamphlet of this guy's tweets, but with illustrations. I'm all about one-liners and I think it takes a lot of talent to set up an entire comedic scenario and comment on it in two sentences or less. This guy can do it. This really should be a bathroom book.

Tim Siedell puts together some of his favorite witticisms and are accented by the whimsical drawings of Brian Andreas. A fun read!

Best book ever?
Probably not... but the format is really cool and something I'm going to think about for future publishing reference.

Loved it! I follow him on Twitter & enjoy every post! Glad to have a bunch all in one packet for when I need a quick laugh. Or need to pawn a witty line as my own.

Very short, very funny book of one liners from Tim Siedell. If you follow @badbanana on twitter you know what to expect.

I'd write more, but then this review would be longer than the book.

Amusing (and in some places very funny) but not much of a 'book' - just read @badbanana twitter feed instead
