Good survey of the development of history and world societies. Loved reading about the Roman Empire and Hellenic/Hellenistic civilization especially, especially since I can cross-pollinate that with my readings on philosophy and how the development of these societies influenced Ancient Greek philosophers and later Christian theology. Lost a bit of steam around the period from Charlemagne - the Middle Ages. May need to re-review those sections later.

This book uses concise and interesting text that explores the cultural nuances and large scale events of major historical societies in a fascinating light.

This was my textbook for World Civilization at BYU, and I absolutely loved it - I wished my professor for the first half of the course had followed it more! I still have it and occasionally use it for reference.
