Ecstasy in Darkness (Alien Huntress #5)
New York Times bestselling sensation Gena Showalter enthralls with a dark, tantalizing world of humans, otherworlders, powers beyond imagining, and a seductive vampire undone by his insatiable hunger for one woman. . . .
Growing up poor on New Chicago’s meanest streets, Ava Sans had two options: be the predator or be the prey. No contest. Now, working for Alien Investigatio ...more

God hadn’t just been on his A game when he created this being. He’d decided to enter a new league. Rough, raspy, and purring, McKell’s voice was like hot butterscotch poured over—hmm, butterscotch.
Ava is a fantastic heroine and I adored her! She’s violent, tough, argumentative, feisty and contrary. And her loyalty to her best and only friend Noelle was AMAZING. Ava is the kind of person I would LOVE to be friends with. She hasn’t had an easy life, but she’s a fighter and isn’t intimidated by...more
I haven't read an Alien Huntress book since, well since the last one. (lol, no really, though it's been since Bride's book came out, so a while now).
I was soo excited to get back into this world!
I read the story in Deep Kiss of Winter as my intro to the AH world, and I really liked it, so I borrowed the first couple from a friend and found out I REALLY liked the series. When I saw this one at the store, I went nuts, seriously jumping up and down and making a complete ass ...more
I feel like I keep repeating myself lately but Gena Showalter, or Showhunter as I like to call her, is the bomb diggity. She never disappoints, she's amazing (or Showaltery, as I also like to say), my life would be so sad without her and her troupe of hot, sexy, brooding, alpha males in it.
ECSTASY IN DARKNESS was such a great book. I adore the ALIEN HUNTRESS series, one of my favorite series ever for sure. I love reading about this universe Gena created, the characters are all great and funny a ...more
This book was absolutely hilarious. I giggled so many times while reading that my husband started giving me odd looks. The funniest parts usually revolved around Ava and Noelle and involved them sniping at each other. They were the type of best friends that seemed like blood enemies to the casual observer. Poor McKell made the mistake of trying to insert himself into that situation, not realizing that just because they can criticize each other doesn’t mean that they’ll let anyone else d ...more
Ladies, it's official! I am now a huge fan of the Alien Huntress series and I can actually say I like it better than Lords of the Underworld. *cue gasps*
I love the novelty of this paranormal world. There's aliens, of all types, and some sort of an alien invasion that the AIR agents are dealing with, by a particular alien species called Schon. They are sex aliens, basically succubi/incubi that need sex to survive, but when they have sex they inf ...more
Gena Showalter continues to entertain me with her sexy aliens.
I love that Showalter throws in a few hits at Kresley Cole's IAD series in Ecstasy in Darkness . She also did it in the previous novella, Tempt Me Eternally . But it's even more fitting this time around since the heroine, Ava and her BFF Noelle act much like Cole's Valkyries. Showalter's writing is well around with action sequences to go with her sexy charged rom ...more

Ava Shot McKell and stunned him twice and he does nothing about it. In addition, she was a complete bitch to him for about 80% of the book. There was barely any sex in the book and I don't even feel like there was a growing relationship with the two main characters ei ...more
Growing up on the mean streets of New Chicago, Ava Sans had nothing until she met Noelle Tremain and the two became AIR trainees together. Ordered to capture Victor McKell, a rogue vampire with the ability to manipulate time, Ava and Noelle relish the challenge until their gorgeous prey turns the tables on them and sets his sights on Ava. Against his better judgement McKell becomes obsessed with having the fearless Ava. But when the vicious Schön Queen threatens the wom ...more

This was my first, but certainly not my last, Gena Showalter title. Ecstasy in Darkness grabbed my attention from the start and captivated me until the end, reminding me of what I used to find so special in these stories! In particular, I wanted to note that if you have not yet had a chance to read an Alien Huntress book, don’t be hesitant to try this one. Ms. Showalter did a great job of explaining the background such that thi ...more
Depsite my misgivings while reading this story the ending was great and didn't go the direction I thought. Which I was happy about it. Although the ending was a bit abrupt I still liked it.

My favourite in this series by far, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!
Ava and Noelle, best friends and so God Dammed Funny, had me roaring through the pages and McKell, whom we have met before, is even funnier!!!! I laughed so much with this story and I was captivated by the mystery too.
Some things I kinda worked out but others, WoW!!!

Book Completed: 11/25/2012
Book Rating: ★★★
Read the series? Probably, I got the next
installment but I'm not sure I'd read them all.
I'm going to sum up my review nice and quick-ish because no one reads these anyways but myself.
This book was a solid read. I really enjoyed the relationship between Noelle and Ava even though it dwindled as the book progresses and the steamy-ish chemistry between McKell and Ava.
McKell wasn't quite what I expected for some reason. He was a bit more ...more
WHO WANTS TO READ A ROMANCE THAT KEEPS TALKING ABOUT THE HEROINE'S 1 NIGHT STAND WITH ANOTHER GUY?
1 night stands should not be a characteristic of the heroine readers want to love and relate to. If she has slept with men before the guy, AUTHOR, leave out the details! The prejudice I have to think of through the book is that the heroine is trashy. Especially when she thought she was crawling into bed with his Brother.....wtf ...more
