Sarah Fortune is a lawyer, turned professional mistress. She has inherited a flat from a former client but someone thinks it should be his. He is prepared to go to any lengths to get it. Believeable characters and an easy read.

Another British mystery. First time I've come across this semi-detective, semi-psychologist, part-time ?prostitute? It's never really clear, but it's certainly interesting...

Pleasant, entertaining as Frances Fyfield almost always is, but just a smidgeon short, a little more lightweight than some of her other Sarah Fortune novels.

Beautiful writing, but I thought it dragged a bit at times.

At last! An intelligent female crime writer who does more than Brutalise the Girl. Full of ballsy characters, terrific London locations and a serpentine plot. Bliss...

What have I just finished reading?
Unbelievable characters and story.
I won't be reading anymore of her books as I didn't like the writing style neither.

It's a bit of a creepy story in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on, but enjoyed, nonetheless.

On the one hand, I love the characters in this book, old and not so old, male and female, domestic and professional - but I don't believe some of their actions. So how does that work??
