I love Joyce Rupp. I’ve taken to reading a passage each day to reflect on. I believe this is one of her best books. The words are healing and the artwork is sacred. The book is a retreat in itself and was my pre Lenten gift to myself. It will bring you hope, peace, and calm. I believe her words are a gift from God.
This is a beautiful book of poetry, reflection, meditation and the spirituality of life- life on this earth and life in the cosmos. I had read Rupp before but remembered what I read as being strictly Christian-oriented. This is not that. It transcends religious boundaries and speaks to the soul of nature, humanity and divinity, united in one glorious experience of the universe. This is a book I will read many times, savoring the beauty, the thoughtfulness, the wisdom. It is a book that I can read to and with any of my hospice patients and know that with a sigh, they will understand.
The Cosmic Dance, Experience Our Oneness by Joyce Rupp. The spiritual power of nature is all round us. This book is a beauty on how to appreciate all of the creation from the roots of trees to birds to sunshine and moonshine, and of course our sacred humanity. Essays and poems with artwork by Mary Southard, which will grab your eye and hold you there, will inspire and motivate you. Joyce Rupp’s perspectives and her experiences are so soothing. “We need to be with Earth, listen to her humming in the music of her creatures, sway with her dancing in the wintry branches of snow-filled trees ….” This book is a reminder to appreciate life and it’s generosity. Lots of insights from Rachel Carson, Henri Nouwen, Teilhard de Chardin and Jane Goodall. If there is a voice in the oceans, rivers, lakes, and ponds, Joyce Rupp will show you how to hear it. “The Voice of Water” is a stunning chapter! Highly recommended. Paula Cappa is an avid book reviewer and an award-winning supernatural mystery author of novels and short stories.
I loved Joyce Rupp’s inspirational stories and poems. In this disturbing time of division and isolation in our world, her view that the earth is our home, and we are connected physically and spiritually with all of creation and the universe soothes my spirit and calms my anxiety. Mary Southard’s ethereal illustrations perfectly capture the tone of Rupp’s writings.
I earnestly recommend this book to all my fellow inhabitants of our fragile planet.
Lovely. In one word, this little book is lovely. Ms Joyce Rupp has such an adoration for Creation. She shares her love of the universe with poetry and prose. Need inspiration? Dealing with some adversity? Her book will draw you into nature. Meditate and resolve or comfort your soul. This sweet book can take you there.
