Aleron is a centuries old vampire who likes to hang out in a vampire BDSM club called Midnight Playground. It's London in the year 2069, and he feels like he's seen it all. He's also suffered a great loss. So now he spends his time with willing male submissives and gets into their heads so that he can experience the pleasure-pain, a sensation that he personally can no longer feel, through their eyes. He doesn't take women subs because they have emotion, and that's something that he just doesn't want to deal with...until she walks into the club.

Meeraj is a tough, street-wise stripper who has lost everyone important to her. She's always in control in her life because she doesn't have anyone else to depend on. Though she doesn't have to be in control in the BDSM clubs, she's never been able to give up total control. She has always wanted to be taken by a vampire, so she decides to go to Midnight Playground to see what she can experience under one of those immortal's cool hands.

When she walks in the club, she sees Aleron and she's immediately drawn to his striking blue gaze. She wants to submit to him, give him all the power to do what he wants with her body. Aleron wants nothing more than to take her, and when he does, he experiences a pleasure that should not exist between human and vampire. He doesn't know why it happens but he knows he never wants to let this woman go, and she's content to stay with him. But how do an immortal and a human have forever?

This novella is highly sensual. There is a lot of BDSM play in it, although it is not hardcore. There is m/m interaction as well as m/f interaction, some m/m/f interaction as well. Under all of the sex and bondage and domination is a romance between an unlikely couple who turns out to be just about perfect for each other. There is a lot of erotic sex play that keeps you tantalized throughout the story, and has you begging for more. And the story, although short, is well developed. We get a lot of background of the characters without getting bogged down in the back-story.

This is a continuation of a series, and although I didn't read the first book in the series, I really didn't feel like I was missing any integral part of the story. I know that the author alluded to characters in the first book, but gave enough explanations to keep those new to the series in the loop with what happened in the first book as it pertained to this story. This is a quick read, but highly enjoyable. If you like paranormal romance and BDSM, this is definitely for you. I for one am going to pick up the first book in the series, The Seeking Kiss, to get more of this world that Eden Bradley so wonderfully created.

Vampire Aleron returns in this second installment of the "Midnight Playground" erotica series. Now that his previous lover, Hex, has hied off with his true love and newly minted vampire mate, Nissa, lonely Aleron finds himself spending more time in the BDSM club's dungeons. His tragic past of lost love still haunts him after a century of mourning, and his struggle with the memories and heartache are almost surprisingly believable, touching, and raw. Such is the curse of immortality.

Enter Meeraj, a human female on her first foray at Midnight Playground (what is it about these newbies?). In comparison to Aleron, Meeraj's characterization is flimsy. The author means her to be tough, deep, and equally tragic, but the poor girl just comes off as pitiful putty, with all the depth and personality of so much pretty oatmeal. The submissive aspect of her personality is overdone enough to weaken whatever sense of a backbone Meeraj might've had.

The author makes full use of the BDSM dungeon in this tale, and the characters play with pain as much as they do pleasure. Meeraj is consensually beaten by Aleron more than once, and the depictions are graphic. Aleron's bisexuality is also featured, so readers who don't care for any "homo" in their erotic should give this story a pass. And once again, if you can't stomach predestined love at first sight, this series isn't for you. The author manages to temper the tweeness of such trite sentimentality with Aleron's long suffering; you feel like he's earned this reward of finding his one true mate. Meeraj, not so much. She isn't annoying enough to root against, but I couldn't muster much interest in the relationship on her behalf. I'm happy for Aleron, though; if this is what he wants, more power to him. The "bloodsong" declares them to be soulmates - who am I to argue?

A wee bit of conflict surfaces near the end. It feels natural but far too brief and too easily resolved. In a longer treatment, the agony of the decision to accept immortality could be fascinating. But Meeraj, after a quick period of contemplation - none of which we experience with her; all of it glossed over in a few paragraphs - she accepts her destiny of eternal HEA with Aleron.

A quick, reasonably entertaining read, and Aleron's characterization is certainly worth an afternoon.

As I started reading this book I was immediately drawn into the sexual atmosphere. The author has a way with words that makes you actually see what is going on in the book in your head. You can feel the sexual tension between the two characters in he beginning of the book.
As the chapters go on, I became more and more involved with the main characters. The tensions between the two, even before they touched, were sizzling. Just by the way they were looking at each other, you could tell that their chemistry was going to be good if not great.
I was just as surprised as Meeraj when she got an apology during their scene. From the beginning it was noticed that Aleron was the type of vampire that did what he wanted without any form of apology or sorrow. It was nice to see that even a man like that does have some remorse in certain situations.
It was nice to learn that after all of their sexual tension was released, they got to know each other. I could not believe that Aleron opened up the way he did. To understand why he became the way he is was completely eye opening and maybe even a little depressing. But I loved how the author made us see his human side. I loved learning that he fell in love and tried to deny it. It seems like such a typical human male thing to do. I appreciated the author for putting that part in the book.
It is always nice to read about happily ever afters. Throughout this story I was always wondering if that was ever going to happen. I loved finding out how this book ended, it was a great read and I cannot wait for more from this author.

This vampire/BDSM novella starts off with really hot action in a BDSM club with 300-year-old Aleron doing a scene with a male bound to a St. Andrews cross. He is distracted by Meeraj, an exotic beauty who enters the room and sits nearby to watch him. I was very impressed with the first third of the book as these two characters hooked up for a tense relationship and was looking forward to how things developed.

Unfortunately, it went downhill after that with the rest being so so, with little or no further development of the characters and the relationship went from zero to 60MPH in a heartbeat, which felt unrealistic.

Meeraj acted like she was on drugs much of the time (always blacking out after making love) and became a bit pathetic. The only obstacle to their relationship was if she would accept the "Turning Kiss" and spend forever with him. Oh yes, and there was a menage scene with a third vampire which just felt like it was taking up space and yet another reason to have kinky sex.

It was simply disappointing after such a great start! So, 2 1/2 stars rounded up to 3 stars.

Eden Bradley expresses emotion with strong words. She draws a vivid picture quickly and concisely, dragging the reader into the middle of the story. The pain of Meeraj and Aleron is easily imagined and impacts the reader with their pain. I found Bloodsong a compelling world; one which I will want to visit often.

Usual Eden splendor :) A sexy, alluring adventure into the psyche of what makes Aleron, the vampire, tick. This isn't simply a BDSM adventure that takes place in The Midnight Playground. Oh no. This is a deeply romantic story with plenty of emotional waves get your teeth into. This book had me wrapped around its little finger, begging for more. I whole heartedly recommend.

Reading this book really puts you into the characters mind, especially Aleron. You can't help but feel his pain, feel his struggle and know that we all have been there once or twice in our lives. And then there's Ever which just makes it all come together. Very classic romance with some very HOT scenes, ok a lot of HOT HOT scenes but written in a way that makes you want to be Meeraj. Loved it.

I thought this one was better than the first one. I was happy to see Aleron have the potential at a HEA. It was a fight for him as he was going to let his past get in the way of his future. He just needed to let Meeraj get her head in the right space. I really liked the introduction of Ever, he intrigues me, I hope to read more about him.

It was 2 - 2.5 stars. I felt like so much more could have been explained and gone into. The smut was hot, but at times it felt forced. A decent read, but not my favorite.
