Interesting and readable portraits of the work and feminist, artistic growth of Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, and Adrienne Rich. I felt like this should have been three different books, though, one book for each poet, as the connections between the three were not strongly made or argued. Still, an enjoyable academic discussion of the creativity and feminist attitudes that emerged within these three great poets.

(Worth reading if only to find and have read the Adrienne Rich poem, "A Photograph of an Unmade Bed.")
