Eloquent writing about growing up and living the outdoors lifestyle in Alaska. Some people move to Alaska, have an adventure or two, and decide they need to write books about it, because, you know, "look-at-me- I'm-such-a-hero-for-toughening-it-out". In other words, crap, and poorly written at that. This reminds me of Seth Kantner's reminiscing. Heartfelt, respectful, and sometimes heartbreaking at the same time. Well done, Steve, I am honored to have met you and Anne.

I love Alaska books, as they broaden my appreciation for Alaska and Alaskans! This was no exception. Steve's life depicts so much of the Alaskan way, and his storytelling makes us feel like we are right there with him.
