Derek is only working for a month to pay off his debt to Jessie, but not everyone likes his openly homosexual lifestyle. He knows what it feels like to be beaten to within an inch of his life so he doesn't give a rat's ass what people think.

The attraction between him and the hunky Indian Ishwar is instantly satisfying. He finds himself begging for more every second he is n

2012 Review:

Clearly, I’m a glutton for punishment.

Yeah, this one took a while longer than Shark's Mate to become incomprehensible, but it, too, succeeded by throwing out plotlines willy-nilly and ending scenes just when they get started. Not to mention the horrible structuring, with the third guy showing up way late and the viewpoint switches being confusing and unevenly distributed. The whole paranormal aspect was also introduced way too late and confusingly, as though just everything the autho

This is one of those books that have an awful lot of potential. The story idea of matching a lonely human with a Native American shaman and a powerful werewolf is great. The initial setup of Derek and how he is saved from himself and given a chance on the ranch where Ishwar works is good. The conflict between Ishwar and the werewolf, Lucas, is set up and ready to explode.

Then, about halfway, it all fell apart for me. Derek clearly fell for Lucas, but there was no inner conflict about him being t

I like shifter stories fun or serious, I like them all the same. I did enjoy this up to a point and then with about 25% to go, things started to get messy and fall apart. Vagueness in details and background, incomplete character thoughts and follow thru. Character inner dialog not matching conversations or actions. You didn't know if three days had passed or three weeks. The werewolves are soft of introduced and issues brought up and then dropped and then reappear without the issues. The mother' ...more

Jaymes’ Review:

Heart of a Cowboy is a nice book but missing, in my opinion, a few pieces that would have made it an amazing story.

After reading the summary, I thought this could be interesting. But as I read it I became lost in a disjointed timeline, confusing pieces of background information and the lack of background on key characters and elements of the story.

Derek is a down-on-his-luck prostitute who resorts to robbery to eat. He’s arrested and taken to jail. Angela, the victim, feels sorry

I totally enjoyed this story. Derek was working the streets and never had a relationship. A foiled attempt at purse snatching lands Derek working on Jesse's ranch where he meets the incredible Ishwar. A native American, Ishwar wants to accept Derek's advances but needs more than a night of hot sex. A night at a local bar brings Lucas into the picture who is the Wendigo pack Alpha. The reader can see Derek thinking over being loved and plain sex when he is attacked by a rogue wolf and nearly kil ...more
