A Praying Life Discussion Guide

Rate this book
Most of us live the Christian life without asking God to be involved in the details of our lives. We are bad at praying, and we know it. We end up feeling guilty and ashamed on top of being defeated.

In the book A Praying Life you will learn how to become like a child running to your Father--and this discussion guide can help pinpoint what needs extra attention. Author Paul Miller's insights into cynicism will reshape your asking and the faith that undergirds your asking.

This discussion guide/leader's guide is designed to help you individually or as a group member cultivate a rich prayer life and grow your relationship with God.

Very helpful for leading a study on this book, super detailed and provides step by step questions and structure. A little less helpful if not following the provided structure and week breakdown, or looking for higher level discussion questions.

This is one of my all-time favorite books about prayer. When I need inspiration to pray more, I just re-read it. Fabulous book!

I don't love the book that this is seeking to discuss. The discussion guide DOES improve the book by slowing the reader down to ponder some of its ideas.

However, two things I would change about the guide:
1. The author refers to Paul, as in Paul Miller, the author in several questions. But it's confusing, since Paul of the Bible is such a huge figure and writer of lots of the new testament. Every time the study guide author said, "Paul says..." I kept thinking of bible Paul.
2. The guide is way more focused on what Miller says than on what the Bible says. It would be helpful to have a guide that connected more of the book to bible passages.
