Another excellent coffee table book from Reader's Digest which is worth reading for the high quality photography alone. The book features a fine selection of historic places from each state of the USA and presents them with travel details, historical significance and superb photographs.

For a history and literary fan like me the photograph and details of Mark Twain's ornate mansion in Nook Farm given in the very beginning of the book provided a great start to the title.
