It was a very extensive Celtic myth compendium. At times I was intrigued at the mythical tales (ones like Macha). But I feel like the book jumped a great deal from certain time periods rather than build up fully from one lineage to another (other than in the land's founding). A bit more could have been told about the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Celtic god pantheon. Nonetheless I was happy to hear about some of the stories, and the Celts' thoughts on certain animals.

Recommends it for: kids/people new to the stories
This is a good primer to the most famous Celtic stories - the Tain, Fionn, the Mabinogion, some other stories - and the illustrations are really very lovely.

Recommends it for: Young teens and up.
This extensively and superbly illustrated book is in the children's section of my local library. It makes for a terrific introduction to Celtic folklore and religion for people of any age. I don't remember her having this one. As a school situated in the same landscapes as some of these legends, that's a pity. Having a great nostalgia for those other books, I tried to find them online and that's when I discovered this one.

The first thing that leaps out is the illustrations. They're
