Incredible Dreams

Rate this book
Incredible Dreams is the story of a modern-day ghost whisperer who travels through time to save the life of a WWII fighter pilot and ends up jeopardizing her own existence. Izzy Miller prefers to call herself a spiritual therapist because she thinks it makes her sound more professional than plain old ghost-whisperer. She expects her latest project to be quick and easy because exorcising military personnel is pretty routine. But there's nothing easy or routine about Captain Jack Baker-he's a rather forgetful spirit and somewhat mischievous. And even though he's intrigued by the US Government's latest attempt to remove him from the only place he can ever remember being...he has no intentions of going anywhere. Plans to exorcise Jack are quickly sidelined when Izzy discovers a portal into the past inside her dreams and sets out to change his fate. Trouble is...when she gets back there, she can't remember anything but her name. She still sees ghosts, but is far less accepting of her gift. And, to make matters worse, a demonic force pretending to be the forgetful heroine's sister has her own plans-to steal Izzy's soul.

First of all, I'm not really into paranormal. I can handle ghosts though and what appealed to me about this book was that one of the main characters is a P-51 pilot and a lot of the novel takes place during world II. (I love pilots and world war II novels..)

However, there is next to nothing about the war or the aircraft the fellow flies.. It's simply a ghost and time travel story. And it was actually a decent story line, but I must say I like the idea more than the way it was implemented.

Izzy is a modern day ghost whisperer. Her current ghost busting mission involves a world war II pilot, Jack. Thanks to her dead mother, Izzy finds herself time traveling to 1946 and begins a love affair with Jack. She is supposed to save Jack somehow. But her 1946 persona can't remember squat and numerous factors come into play attempting to keep her and Jack apart, one being a evil "sister" named Jeanette sent from Satan himself. Um, that's where the book got a little ridiculous. Jeanette has magical powers and just controls people's mind and every now and then leaves to go sit by Satan's side. I can handle ghost whispering, time travel, and ghost busting, but demons too? Eh..

I don't wish to reveal too much so I will just state it simply. I knew the connection between Jack and Izzy LONG before Izzy figured it out. She is a bit ditzy and I grew frustrated beyong belief with her dim wittedness. There was too many repetitive conversations between characters and even tho it is a less-than-300 page book, I found myself saying, "get on with it already.." Also, I HATED the way Jack ended every other sentence with the word "see."

I did find him adorable tho. Makes me wish I could meet a world war II pilot's ghost myself.

Izzy Miller is a “ghost whisperer” for lack of a better word. Her job this time is to clear the building of its final resident ghost. And the resident ghost doesn’t want to go. Izzy is prepared with all her ghost-gone ideas and will spend the evenings until he leaves. He being Captain Jack Baker. Jack’s been in this building a long time, over fifty years, to be precise and he has no intention of moving on. He hasn’t met anything like Izzy, though, and the games she plays and the spirits helping her he isn’t used to.

Jack died in his plane over California during a training run. A rubber dinghy self-inflated and got caught in the controls, causing his plane to dive. He didn’t escape. What if Izzy could change that? There is that fussy old thing about not messing with time, isn’t there? Her mother, dead over eleven years, comes to her in a dream and tells Izzy this is exactly what she has to do. Change time. Jack cannot be allowed to die.

This novel is exactly what is needed on a beautiful Fall day on the front porch. The story of Izzy, Jack and all involved grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. The ending is priceless and I had no clue it was coming until I got there. Go on, pick it up – you won’t regret the purchase!

This book was incredible. Sandra Edwards created such a powerful love story. I love a "twisted romance" something that is out of the norm. She penned this gripping story of a modern day woman, that falls in love with a man that died 30 years before she was even born and then has the opportunity to save him. This book is sensual and romantic and it is impossible to put down...trust me, I tried. I just couldn't peel my eyes away. Incredible Dreams gives you the perfect dose of romance and suspense with some witty humour thrown in the mix. I fell in love with Jack Baker and Izzy Miller, I found myself flying through the pages dying to know what was going to come of the obstacles that Jack and Izzy were facing. It's been a long time since I read a book that captured my attention so much. This book has made it on my favourites list and I know I will end up re-reading this book over and over again. This is the perfect book to read when your in need of an escape from life's craziness or when you are curled up on the couch by a toasty fire. Be warned you will probably need a box of tissue close by, I had to reach for a few.

A first reads goodreads win! Signed by the author- always a nice touch.

This book is a paranormal romance. I wanted to like this book more. It looked interesting and parts of the story were intriguing. The first 50 or so pages were confusing. The transition between character's point of view was awkward causing me to reread parts once I realized I was reading from someone else's point of view. Mostly the book was just weird. Jack and Isabelle's relationship didn't develop it just was and although in the second half of the book I found it more believable I prefer there to be at least some foundation for a relationship. I think the author had some creative ideas but as a whole it just didn't work for me. Finally, the book had several intimate scenes as well as strong language. It was just OK.

I read this book for a fair and honest review.

I am a firm believer of ghosts and paranormal activity. Somethings just can't be explained. I was excited about the opportunity to review this book.

This story is not just about a ghost whisperer or spiritual therapist as Izzy likes to describe herself. It is also a love story.

Izzy finds herself in the past with Jack where she falls in love. It is an interesting twist to have a human fall for a spirit.

This is the second book I've read by this author. She has a talent for writing that sucks you into the story from the very first page. I highly recommend reading her work.

I usually don't give bad review, I was excited for this book cause it was a live story with time travel and I soo love books like that. Jude deveruex a knight in shining armor, my favorite of all time. Anyway this started out great and really grabbed me, by the end it left me feeling flat, and felt like it missed something. The writing was def well done.

I didn't hate it, the banter between the characters was annoying due to overuse of one stereotypical phrase from the time.

It was cute, a quick read, but I wouldn't recommend it.

This was a very interesting time travel romance. I really enjoyed it! I downloaded this book when I first bought my Kindle, but had never managed to read it until now.

Isabelle (Izzy) Miller is a modern day ghost whisperer. She is a very likable character, who has been hired to clear an old, abandoned WWII Air Force base hanger of a ghost. I really liked this character. She has a steely inner strength and a determination to succeed.

This is a wonderful time travel romance that takes the reader on a wild ride. The story is told mostly through Izzy and Jack's point of view, but there are also a few other characters that have their say, which gives it an interesting twist. I started this book and was reminded of a British TV comedy series called "Goodnight Sweetheart", where a young man finds a tear in the fabric of time and it leads back into 1940's London. However, this story is slightly different as it is set in the US, the main character is female and this book is most definitely not a comedy. Izzy goes back in time to save the life of the pilot, Captain Jack Baker from a tragic accident. This story is full of twists and turns, as well as interesting characters. The romance between Izzy and Jack was sweet, but hot. I liked Jack too. He is full of charm and charisma. There is danger and excitement, as well as adventure in this really sweet story. This time travel romance was a refreshing change of pace from the normal paranormal romance books I read, and I found myself on an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end.

Time travel is a paradox; if you went back in time, would you become your own grandmother/father or some other relative? This is a question that has always intrigued me from when I first read H.G. Well's Time Machine. I am no scientist, but one wonders if there are people from the future travelling back to our time and beyond. Scary? Maybe, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Sandra Edwards has taken the concept of time travel and written a wonderful romance that was touching and sweet. I loved her fast paced writing style and the flow was wonderful.

Due to scenes of a sexual nature that, although not as explicit as some books I have read, are rather on the steamy side, I do not recommend this book to younger readers (under 16). I do, however, recommend this book if you love older YA, paranormal or time travel romances. - Lynn Worton

Izzy Miller had unsual ability. She could sense and see ghost, apparition, or spirit. She had helped many lost souls and convinced them to cross over to the next life. She did not have spells like Wicca or used high tech equipments. Spiritual therapist, that’s what she called herself. She was very capable in this field. So no need to wonder why, the United States Military used her service. A big fat bonus was offered for her but it was the challenges which became the main reason why she used her talent and answered all her clients’ demands.

One day, she was asked to “cleaned” one hangar. She could sense many creatures inside. In few minutes, all sprited and fairies moved away. But there was one soul left, a spirit of Air Force flyer with his unfinished stuff. Jack Baker never knew the way he died. What written in his files about the accident around the world war did not make him satisfied. It looked like there was a mist that block his memory. That made Izzy had to think harder to find a way out. Because she never met a forgotful spirit. Besides none of them were as old as Jack. Another problem appeared when she realized there was a passion toward him.

Incredible dreams was not the first book that told me about a character with a talent for ghost whispering. I have read some. So I was not that impressed much when her ability revealed. But I did wonder how she would solve the case. The more I read, the more I got surprised. I never thought that Sandra, the authors would bring Izzy and me to such adventure. The plot ran smoothly. The ending was also nice. Nothing that made me confused.

The bond between Izzy and Jack was written very well. I liked all chapters about them. Compared to Izzy, I prefered Jack. Not only because he was so charming but also smarter . Yeah, Izzy’s ignorance became something that bugging me. I thought she had lost her mind when she let Jennie, another character that you’ll find in this book, controled the way she moved. She should have done some checking in the first place. I wish I could shout at her. I know I might too emotional. Just cant help it. The appearance of her family was also awkward for me.

Although I found some holes inside, over all I enjoyed this light paranormal book.

Cover
However it does not belong to my favorite cover. I like the black car in the cover. It tells the book setting very well.

Incredible Dreams is a heartwarming paranormal mystery that blends time travel with psychic undertones. Izzy Miller (Isabelle) is a woman who lost her parents when she was ten years old. That very night was the first time she started to not only see, but also communicate with spirits. Unlike ghosts who replay a memory or an event, a spirit is one who has not moved on toward the light. Izzy works for multiple branches, on retainer, of the US government, so it came as no surprise to her when the Air Force asked for her in hopes of evicting whoever was residing in their abandoned hangar.

While others may have been skeptical of the place being haunted, Izzy knew within minutes. Only a few moments pass before she finds the culprit, the one and only Jack Baker. Quite known in his day, his plane crashed after a dinghy inflated within the plane, and thus sending him crashing far too early to his demise. After all he had only just turned 27, and had much of his life to live.

When Jack meets Izzy he is quite cautious, but learns quickly that even as a spirit he is more than attracted to her. Quickly she realizes the feeling is quite mutual, but they cannot touch. In a twist of events, izzy finds herself in 1946, a month before Jack’s death is to occur, but there are a few snags. One, Izzy has no memory except her name, and a feeling that she knows and trusts Jack. Two, there is a soul snatcher after both Jack and the highly coveted psychic.

Will the two find a way to cross time just to be with each other? Can they fend off “Jeannie’s” insistent meddling to see them apart? Will Izzy save Jack’s life, and thus his soul?
Read it to find out!

This is the second novel that I’ve had the pleasure of reading by this author, Sandra Edwards. I was amazed how well she wrote the paranormal edge, and crossed genres just a tad. The first book I read of hers was The Marriage Bargain (a contemporary romance) which I found to be quite entertaining (and I still recommend it!). This had much of what I loved in her writing style, but let me tell you something, I absolutely loved the sexual scenes. They felt realistic, and the imagery that came across was dead-on. The story itself did not have a single plot hole, and I really felt the epilogue was a fantastic touch, but I don’t want to say too much about it. No spoilers!

(going to keep from mentioning spoilers)

didn't finish this book yet, so I am going to put it 'down' on my NOOK 'floor' Till a little later.
here is my Problem....
Loved the story up to a certain point.
When the situation happened to the heroine....[BAM]....I instantly thought of THREE television shows and TWO books that I had read before with EXACTLY the same plot twist.

so, Is it because I am a voracious reader, Lived on Earth a long time, and/or just it is just a personal quirk?
Any and all discussion plus or minus is truly welcomed.
AND I will be picking up one or two more titles by this author Just to give her a wider read.

like the time travel romance, military history fiction slant, but truthfully, I have read lots of different fiction
Maybe it's cause I'm 58 and practically read anything that isn't nailed down? .....AND Cursed with a Rilly, RILLY good memory for Plots, characters and books?

[HOPE it's NOT a curse from Some witch or wizard I messed over in a previous life].

Rich Johns
former 82nd paratrooper, former army SF and former security contractor (Iraq).

back again: Finally finished up the book....Four of Five stars!
It is a pretty great story, with a few twists in the time travel/Ghost Whisperer vein.
Isabel is a no nonsense female heroine, tough, focused individual in the present who time jumps back to the World War II era to attempt to save a flier whose ghost she is trying to eradicate from the present.

recommend it for the Flavor of a heroine that goes back to the WW 2 era with Tae Kwan do skills, a hankering for Starbucks, and trying to find someone who sells 'flavored' lip gloss.

read the story and let me know how many movies, books or plays it reminds You Of.

Sandra Edwards' Incredible Dreams is a wonderful combination of paranormal, time travel and romance. The time travel element is probably the strongest part of the story, but there is a lot going on in the story, some of which is explained away, and some of it that the reader never quite learns the reasons for.

I would have loved to have a more definitive answer about why Izzy had to save Jack and why the demon was after her soul. I didn't feel these issues were totally resolved in the story. However, that didn't change the fact that I absolutely loved the characters, especially Izzy when she traveled back to the 1940s. There are so many things that are vastly different in the world, as well as the military and when she was thrust back into time without any recollection of who she was, it really made the story more interesting.

Then there was the chemistry between Izzy and Jack! These two characters really sizzle, even when they are trying to stay apart. Sandra wrote the sex scenes beautifully. She kept things hot but didn't go over the top, which takes away from the story.

I actually found the first part of the story, when Izzy is trying to solve the problem of the "ghost" Jack to be a little slow. But once she travelled back in time through her dreams things progressed quickly and I couldn't stop turning the pages.

The plot was unique and will appeal to fans of time travel novels as well as those who love romance. This is a great story to curl up with on a rainy afternoon. The story will keep you engrossed until the last page is turned!

Izzy Miller is a spiritual therapist but most call her a ghost whisperer. She is expecting an easy job because usually it is. However her newest job is turning out to be anything but easy. Her job is to help WWII fighter pilot Captain Jack Baker move on. She feels like she know him but knows that isn't possible but as time passes something strange happens. She learns she is really there to save his life. She has been given the power to go back in time. One problem she doesn't have any memory when she goes back in time. There is someone else back in time that doesn't want her to get close to Jack. Can she get her memory back enough to save his life?

Izzy is a great character. She has had a bad past but it only made her stronger. Even when she finds herself back in the past with no memory she still tries to get things figured out. Even when she is told lies and is told she isn't the best person she still believes deep down she is good. Jack is so fantastic in the future and past. He has a witty humor and when he loves someone or something he stands by it. I love reading the chemistry between these two.

This is a different book than I usually read but I really enjoyed it. The blend of past and future is amazing. You do get a feel for the past when you read this book. The story line is wonderful and it keeps a good pace all thruout the book. When reading it I thought at times I could see what was going to happen but the auhor did a great job surprising me a few times. If you are wanting a time traveling love story with several twist and even a villain you can love to hate give this a try.

Title Thoughts: I like it.
Cover Thoughts: It kind of fits it.
WARNINGS: A few mild sex scenes (heat wise.)

This book has a little bit of everything and I love it! There's a ghost-whisperer. There's time traveling. There's the in-between world. There's a soul snatcher. There's present day and 1940s. There is a woman who is very strong willed and determined. There's a flyer from the 1940s, who is a gentlemen and has a fun nature about him. All the characters were distinct and so very well developed.

I could read Edwards' writing all day. She is quite the story teller and I can't wait to read more by her. (Maybe more about the soul snatcher?)

Addict's Last Words: Incredible Dreams will sweep you into the 1940s and into the tell of two lovers...if one can save the other from death.

To Buy or To Borrow: Buy! I really enjoyed it!

I've read quite a few of Ms. Edward's books and with each one I think, I love this book the best. That is, until I picked up INCREDIBLE DREAMS. What a fabulous book. The story of Isabelle and Jack is unveiled in snippets expertly written to keep you turning the pages. You won't want to stop reading once you start.

Isabelle (Izzy) Miller is a modern-day ghost whisperer and she is hired by the government to help the spirit of Captain Jack Baker leave and move on from an abandoned military base. Izzy is confident that she can exorcise the reluctant spirit, but events take a strange twist when her long-dead mother tells her that she must save Jack. Save him? Izzy doesn't understand, but when a portal opens up during her dreams allowing her to travel back to 1946, she is set on a path that could change her life forever.

Throw in an evil soul snatcher in the guise of a long-lost sister, Jeannie, who is bent on stealing Izzy and Jack's souls, and you have the perfect villain. Unfortunately, Izzy suffers from amnesia when she time travels and is unable to know the difference between fact and fiction. All she knows is that from the moment she meets Jack, her heart is stolen by the charming pilot. Will their love blossom? Will that put Izzy's soul in more danger and what happens to modern-day Izzy as she dreams of events in 1946? I couldn't read the pages fast enough to find out. The book was that engrossing. Fans of romance will thoroughly enjoy this book. Highly Recommended.

Incredible Dreams isn’t the kind of book that sucks you in quickly. But, it does take ahold of you slowly, dropping little bits that keep you wanting to nibble off more. It’s the kind of book that has you constantly saying, “Just one more chapter.”

You get both perspectives, but it’s written in 3rd person. While I connected with the characters, I feel like I would have enjoyed this book a little bit more if it would have been in 1st person with a little more insight to what the characters were feeling.

The premise for the book is unique and that kept me intrigued. There’s a good bit of mystery meshed in, too, which left me asking questions that I really wanted to find the answers to. I enjoyed making guesses along the way. There’s also a twist that comes, but I did guess it before hand.

There are some very sweet romantic moments to look forward to, also. I really enjoyed these moments when they came. Jack really had me rooting for him! You’ll get a little bit of steaminess, but the scenes aren’t very explicit.

On the technical side, it could have used just a little more editing, and I would have appreciated some page breaks during scene changes that I didn’t always get.

Overall all it was an interesting and unique tale of time-travel and love. I recommend this to romance readers that enjoy a little bit of sci-fi.

Out of all the supernatural beings, ghosts were one that I haven't read too many about, the blurb had gotten my interest peaked but I still was a bit unsure until I started to read. This book and a nice blend of historical and paranormal mixed with a sweet sometimes steamy romance.

Isabelle(Izzy)is a ghost whisper who is hired by the US Military to get rid of a pesky ghost/spirit that refuses to move on.

Jack the spirit wants to know why he died, he doesn't remember much of his life and is hoping Izzy will help him.

What I loved about this book was how the author incorporated time travel and the way she did it. I could be wrong but I know I haven't read a book like this before and it was refreshing. I loved how when Izzy went back in time she had blips of memory of her now time but couldn't figure out why which in some cases was funny, especially some of the phrases she used then had no idea why she said it.

The unexpected moments which I won't talk too much about because I don't want to give anything away but they had my mouth dropped and eyes bugged. I know one thing though I wondered through out the whole book how could they be together?

Would I recommend this book? Yes if you love ghosts, time travel mixed with steamy romance this book is for you.

Izzy Miller is a ghost-whisperer who is asked by the air force to clean out a Hangar where Jack's spirit still hangs around, he is a WII pilot and has no intention to leave the place he likes it there.

Izzy thinking it was a job fast done, is finding out it takes more then that, she knows that in her dreams she can find solutions m dreaming is an portal for Izzy to go back to the past.. On request of her mother who passed away she is going to save jack it is somehow very important, Izzy goes to sleep one last time and "wakes" up in 1946 where it is Jack's time. She meets him and falls head over heals in love with him.

There is only one problem when Izzy goes time traveling she lose her memory. She remembers she is a singer in a club so when Jack saves her and helps her out for a few days, she finds out her sister has been looking for her, the "sister" Jeannie, is not what it seems to be, she is out to steal Izzy and Jack's soul and does everything to make sure they stay separated and out of touch so Izzy can not safe Jack. Question is who will win, Jeannie the bad one in the game or Izzy and Jack?

Find out for yourself, it is a well written book and I love paranormal books, I believe in spirits and whisperers, well done Ms Edwards another good book on your list.

Some of my absolute favorite novels involve time travel - Outlander, Time Travelers Wife and more. This book has now been added to the list. The book is not a long one but it is one that I will read time and time again. It is a feel good type of book with just enough romance to not detract from the storyline. Time travel in itself makes for an excellent storyline but Sandra has melded a supernatural edge into her writing that has created a truly unique plot with interesting characters. Could she have provided more detail and depth for her characters - yes. But one of the things I liked about this book was its size. I wasn't in the mood for another mega-novel. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

She is more than a ghost whisperer. She is the one to remove ghosts while dealing with other supernatural creatures who like to interfere. But this ghost is different. He doesn’t want to leave. Suddenly she finds the experience like nothing she has ever seen. Her dreams take her to another time with a mission that seems impossible.

The characters had me laughing and cheering for them. I enjoyed the mystery of trying to do the impossible. The author had a plot that moved between times. It was fun.

A unique romance where a ghost battles a mortal who is able to time travel. It was a joy to read.

Note: I purchased this book with my own funds with no expectation of a positive review.

As with many books that I've read lately, Incredible Dreams has been in my TBR pile for a while now.

I was immediately drawn in as the subject matter was something that I'm in to. I guess I didn't realize that there was a paranormal aspect to this book. I particularly liked the interactions between Izzy and Jack before Izzy went back in time. I also thought the epilogue was genius. It really wrapped it up for me. Cool story. I've tried to make an effort to read outside of my preferred genre in the last year, and I'm glad of it. If I hadn't I would've missed out here.

I did enjoy the book, though I probably won't reread it; the romance was sweet. However, there were many errors- grammatical as well as spelling- even wrong words used. The story was predictable although there was one plot twist that really threw me. Left me thinking, what the heck??!! and not in a good way. There wasn't much suspense & never any doubt that the main characters would find their happy ending. If you just want a nice, simple, fast read, then this book is good to pass the time. If you want something more, then it's not.

Sandra pens "Incredible Dreams" a paranormal romance in a plot that keep you guessing. Just when you think you've figured it out a twist gets thrown in and keeps you wanting more. I found the characters to be interesting and likable with tons emotions and romance thrown in. A must read for all paranormal romance readers.

I'm not quite sure how to rate the book (it's always been an issue for me actually). I liked the concept and the plot in genral. It was an exciting read all in all, though I did stumble over a couple of things I didn't feel comfortable with (sex too soon too often for my liking; some plot-related questions left unanswered). But, those can easily be my subjective attitudes.
Got it for Kindle when it was free.

This is a great story about Izzy a spiritualist who can send ghosts to the other side and she can see them. When she is hired by the Air Force to go to a hangar she doesn't expect to find Jack the spirit who doesn't want to leave. This story takes you on a brilliant adventure with plenty of surprises, with true romance included, this is quite original and you can't help but get attached to the characters and really well written

This was a kindle freebie, but not one of their typical "extremes" It had a good story line, and an interesting concept. I did come to care about the characters, and what happened to them. I really like how the end tied up the loose ends, because as I read, I wasn't sure how the author was going to do it. I don't feel like I wasted my time.
