I really was hoping for a good read with this latest EW book.

The love story of Alex and Amelia seemed to take a back seat to the "mystery" of Anna and the family feud between the Hathaway and the St. James families.

The limited amount of time that was devoted to our H and h was enjoyable to read, but I got a bit bored by the secondary characters of Aunt Sophia and Richard and the unraveling of the mystery. It was just not that interesting or mysterious...as a friend called it, lots of

But Alex doesn’t expect to run into Lord Hathaway’s beautiful daughter Lady Amelia Patton. While hiding on her balcony, he spies on her as she undresses.

A lot of people find Emma Wildes use of mysteries and secondary romances distract from the main romance, but I find the style charming. It feels like I'm reading about a whole world instead of just two people which I think she pulls off rather well. As usual, I found this story delightful. Alexander and Amelia were a perfect fit for each other even as their courtship was unorthodox and had the family feud as an obstacle. A fun way to spend a few free moments. I also liked the less stuffy, wild d ...more

I really liked the book but at some points it was a bit slow. I liked both the H&H in this book and the love scenes were on the hot side, that is alway's a plus for me, LOL! The ending had a nice little twist that added to the story. I will be reading the next book, Our Wicked Mistake when it comes out 10/5. ...more

Book 1 in the Notorious Bachelors Series

This book was unique. The hero, Lord Alexander St. James, and heroine, Lady Amelia Hathaway, communicated with each other for the entirety of the book. Whenever an obstacle arose to their love, they discussed it. Whenever one was insecure about something, they discussed it. When they fell in love, they didn’t wait until the end of t

DNF. Been there, done that story with yet another jaded hero and a virginal ZZZ worthy heroine.

Side Note: This cover must be the blahest cover of the year.

Like curling up in a nice soft blanket on a crisp fall day, My Lord Scandal, the first installment of Emma Wilde's Notorious Bachelors series, left me warm, feeling good and ready to cozy up to the upcoming bachelors in the series.

Lady Amelia Patton has arrived in London at her father's request to be presented to society and all the eligible bachelors at "the ton." Used to the easy, carefree country life, Amelia is far from excited about her father's insistence that she attend the seasonal balls

I became an instant fan of Emma Wildes when I read her Lessons from a Scarlet Lady, loving the freshness of the story. This book isn’t far behind that one, giving us lively and interesting characters, a romance that is a treat for the heart, and a mystery with a twist to cap things off.

I really like the beginning of this book. Alexander has brought along his good friend Michael to break and enter into the home of a nobleman to retrieve something that belongs to Alex’s family, at least per his gr

I am officially an Emma Wildes fan. After reading this as well as Lessons From a Scarlet Lady, which I highly recommend, Wildes is a must read for me. The characters were extremely well developed, there was some mystery, a long standing family feud, and a heroine not afraid to be smart as well as a hero who appreciated said smarts. *GASP*

I loved everything about Alex. He has grown up the third son of a duke, and loves it that way. He has no desire to inherit the title, but not because he is afra

Ms. Wildes has done a wonderful job of bringing us a story of three best friends, Lord Alexander St. James in “My Lord Scandal”, Luke Daudet, Viscount Altea in “Our Wicked Mistake” and Michael Hepburn, Marquess of Longhaven in “His Sinful Secret”. All three have survived the Napoleonic/Peninsular War and are now trying to get back to the life they were meant to lead. There is plenty of romance, intrigue and mystery in all three stories.

In the first book, “My Lord Scandal”, we meet our first Hero

The title is awful, the novel is excellent. In this first novel of Emma Wildes' Notorious Bachelors trilogy, there's murder, mystery, intrigue, beautifully developed characters, and a story line that will keep you guessing until the end. While Wildes employs some of the traditional tropes of the Regency romance subgenre, she applies and explores them in such ways that they feel fresh and innovative. The book is filled with humor (so much so that I laughed aloud several times) and, joy of joys, a ...more

Emma Wildes is fast becoming a favorite author of mine.

I like the fact that her books--at least the three I've read so far--are not extremely angst filled, which is a nice change of pace. I find them quite relaxing. They make me smile...and sometimes laugh out loud.

This book included. I loved the fact that the two lead characters actually communicated with each other the whole way through the book. There was no giant misunderstand between the two that kept them apart or any of the other regular

- This was an interesting tale of mystery, friendship and love. I was smitten with Lord St. James aka Alex. He wasn’t extremely seductive (as I like) but he was a smooth operator indeed. I thought the connection between Amelia and Alex was a good and at times sexy. However, I wish she could have been a little more mature in certain areas. I enjoyed their banter and closeness. I wish the story in all had a little more adult texture, not necessarily sex but not so adolescent either. Now for the my ...more

I'm going to have to order some more of Emma Wildes' novels because I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Its refreshing to read a romance where the hero and the heroine are honest with each other and don't try to deny or destroy their feelings for each other. You can almost feel the chemistry between Alexander and Amelia and wanted them to find a way to be together despite their families disapproval of each other.
It also kept me interested until the end as to why their families hated each other and

The stories of three English soldiers/friends who've been changed by their experiences during the long war with Napoleon Bonaparte. One was a British spy working undercover in Spain. His capture and torture by the French nearly cost him his life. If not for his last-ditch rescue by his two friends, he would not have survived.

War changes the people involved in it. These books show how each friend must adapt back into society. But for one of them, his self-doubts and mistrust may prevent him from

I should not allow what the cover looks like to affect my enjoyment of the book within but I did with this one. The storyline was just mediocre for me. The hero descrbed in the book looked nothing like the cover and it was really bugging me as the hero supposedly had silky locks whilst the cover showed a well cropped gentleman. Had the story been more captivating, I suppose I could have gotten over the marked difference in appearances. Sigh.

All around a very enjoyable read! I loved the characters and the fact they did not play games and were quite open and honest with each other. I love the slight mystery the lovers found themselves entwined in (those "found" love letters were sooo romantically good). I will say towards the end, it feels like the author rushed things and wrapped everything up too quickly and too neatly... but with that said, I think this is probably the best regency romance I've read this year.

Nice story about two intelligent and sensible people who also happen to be beautiful and rich falling in love. A bit of a Romeo & Juliet feel to the story because their families have a long-standing hatred for each other. The mystery part was not that interesting, though, and the picture on the cover doesn't look at all like what I imagined the hero to look like as I was reading the book. ...more

What I liked about this book is that while it is a romance, it is not your stereotypical, formulaic romance. There is a mystery, but there is not some dramatic misunderstanding that leads to some dramatic rescue that you so often find in regency romances. This is one of those books that I can read again and again because it is such a sweet and tender love story.

4.5 stars. I loved it. A hero and heroine who not only don't deny their feelings, but fight for them and their right to be together. Both smart and resourceful. And with really terrific secondary characters who don't take over the story but are still very interesting in their own right.

I have to say, I really like this author. Well written and fun to follow along story lines. I did find the plot to be a little confusing at times, but still an enjoyable read. i will definitely read the other two in the series.

A love story that is spicy and romantic. The mystery that unfolds along side the quest for love only adds to the excitement of the book. It is a beautifully written novel that will make readers swoon and sigh.
