Evil never dies. . . .

After escaping the horrors of the Dark Dimension, Elena and her friends can’t wait to attend Dalcrest College, the beautiful ivy-covered campus where Elena’s parents met. Life with Stefan is better than ever, and with her closest friends Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt by her side, Elena knows it will be their best year yet. Even Damon seems genuinely cha

Bottom line Stefan is such a cock-blocker......Gosh I wish Elena would just choose Damon bc the Stefan route just does not make for good reading.

Oh my GOD, this cover is hideous. How does anyone think that would make the book sell? For one, the guy is hideous, and for two, the way they put that shade of red in the background makes him look devoid of all natural skin-tone-ness. In fact, he looks unnaturally pale, like he's been dead for five days and someone just propped his eyes open for this shot.
One way or another, since LJ isn't writing this, I'm not reading it/buying it/donating to its cause.
I give this book zero ratings.

Seriously, ghost writer, you suck. And I don't say this often about books or writers, but you do. Maybe LJ Smith's writing wasn't always up to par but you CAN'T write. Why the publisher ever decided to hire a ghostwriter for The Hunters series is beyond me.

The characters are as lifeless as ever, if not even more. They have no soul, no personality. I've always considered Elena as a vain, ignorant, selfish, spoiled brat, but now she's not even that anymore. Heck, I

Be prepared for ranting and some spoilers here people...

Ok im about 4 chapters in and i already think the book is getting on my nerves, and by 'the book' i really mean Elena, bloody hell she is irritating, and i looked in the back of the book to see how it ended(i know u shouldnt but its something i just had to do for this one) and the ending from what i could tell was that Elena has chosen Stefen. Which wouldn't be so bad as i am a Damon and Bonnie fan anyway, but now Bonnie is going out with t

This is an abomination! Another Vampire Diaries book not written by L. J. Smith. There is no way I would support this book. All Alloy cares about is money, not making good books and not giving the fans what they want. Not only am I not reading this book, I'll never read any book packaged by Alloy.

I am not a fan of this ghostwriter. Like the previous book to this, I am not impressed. The way this (and the previous) book is writen is just a little boring, and she/he focuses WAY too much on "dear, sweet, beautiful Stefan. Oh, sweet Stefan, my only love." And EVERY time Damon opens his mouth to Elena it's princess or darling or my love. This writer is not focused enough on the actual storyline. When Elena kissed Damon and was caught by Stefan - Stefan's reaction was WAY out of character! The ...more

This series is just like a family. It drives me crazy, it annoys me, I see all its faults, and I still LOVE it. I could write either a mean review of Moonsong, or go all fangirlish. Or I can do both.

Read full review on my blog, Beyond Strange New Words.

Moonsong is a typical middle book of a trilogy, continuing where Phantom left off and laying an intriguing basis for Destiny Rising. Even though this series seems to be getting long, it still interests me. As long as there is Damon in it – and he

I won't read any of the ghostwritten books for The Secret Circle series or The Hunters series. By giving a 1 star to these books, I'm showing my dislike for Alloy Entertainment & HarperCollins for firing L.J. Smith. They are not allowing her to write her books the way she wanted, because they only care about what sells and don't have any respect for story telling at all. I personally am a Stelena fan, but just cause I want a story to be one way doesn't mean it should be. They're not mine or ...more

Life is better than ever, Elena and her friends can't wait to attend Dalcrest College. But when students start to disappear from campus, suddenly every new acquaintance is a potential enemy. Then Elena uncovers a long-hidden secret, one that shocks her to the core, she realizes that darkness has followed her from Fell's Church. But will it be Stefan or Damon who catches her when she falls?

Moonsong is my least favourite Vampire Diaries novel. For some reason, I didn't enjoy it as much as the firs

This book was much better than the previous one. I loved how the supporting characters were given their own interesting storylines which were not only intense but also crucial to the overall plot and resolution. ***Spoilers Alert*** Matt and Chloe was awesome. I loved how Matt was able to move on from Elena. All along Matt has loved Elena, she is a part of him, a part of his past and she was all he really knew about love. Then comes along Chloe and love opens its doors again in Matt’s heart. The ...more
Yet another book not written by L.J Smith and I am definitely NOT a fan of the ghostwriter. He/she's writing style is horrible. I felt the story could have been so much better because the plot was amazing!

I loved that *spoiler alert* Bonnie had gotten herself a boyfriend, who also happens to be a werewolf.
And that Meredith had become such a kickass awesome fighter.
But Elena I disliked. She was a whiny drama queen, who couldn't make her mind up about the two brothers. It felt as if Elena was a

The book Moonsong (The Vampire Diaries:The Hunters, #2) by L.J. Smith, a science fiction book with 392 pages has to do with Elena and her friends say goodbye to Mystic Falls and head to Dalcrest college. Elena, Stefan, and Damon are still a close knit group but gets a little shaky. Dalcrest has been having some odd disappearances, but anything supernatural the gang would have to step in.

Moonsong is the second title in The Hunters line of The Vampire Diaries series, but the ninth in the entire series (taking into account the original four plus The Return line). Although the book is attributed to L.J. Smith, it is my understanding she is not the official author of this book. Having read the first six novels, I can say with 99% certainty that this is a ghost writer. Based on the number of references to the previous novels, I feel no need to read books 7 and 8. In this book, Elena ...more

I love Damon! Even before the show when they put a face on him I loved him! Of course I'm a sucker for bad boys lol! In this book they all head for college, all deciding to go to the same one to stay together and protect each other even though Matt and Meredith would have liked to go somewhere else. And it's a good thing they all ended up at the same one because, once again, trouble follows them! Murders and disappearances on the campus that they cannot ignore. wtf? another one?!?! it's way past the point of;this series sucks, they destroyed it by making books past 4, now it's more like this is just sad, is it just about the income now or does the ghost writer actually think She made such an amazing series that she has an excuse to write like 20 of them? it's really pathetic :P and, might i just say, the cover looks like shit. kay thats all.

Alright so I liked them all being together in college and I loved that Bonnie finally found someone. I like how they all went to the same college but I was disappointed in Matt but I feel like he is back with them now. Also, the whole Damon Stefan thing is so confusing but I am glad that Elena has finally made up her mind. Go Stefan!! But I am so sad that Damon is so depressed. What is in store now?
Always with the touchy, feely endings... yuck! Oh! But wait!! A twist....muwah hahaha!!!

This book was baffling, from the beginning of the book all Elena goes on about is how Stefan is the one for her. Seriously, the world almost ended, their loved ones died, their town got wrecked after a chaotic battle with foxes or squirrels or whatever the hell they were battling and all they care about is licking each other. After reading nine books I can honestly say that this series is dragging on and instead of putting 'thrilling new story' they could put 'we changed a few things but overall ...more

This is the story I expected to happen in the previous book, Phantom. The writing style was better here than in Phantom; I assume LJS did not write a single word in this book.

So here we are at Dalcrest College, where Elena and Company start to drift apart while mysterious student disappearances and murders happen all over campus. Elena discovers her parents were members of a secret society at Dalcrest, which this year has invited Matt to join (but not Elena, which is really weird.) Elena decide

Moonsong is the second book in The Vampire Diaries Hunter arc, and continues the story of Elena, Damon, Stefan, and their friends. Elena and her friends have survived the phantom, and now they are off to college where Elena hopes to have a normal life w/ her true love Stefan. Unfortunately, Elena's peace doesn't last long as several of the kids on campus have gone missing, and others are dying. Now it's up to Elena, Damon, Stefan, and their friends to find this new threat before more students ge ...more
Oh well, there goes my forlorn hope that a change of author and setting would mean an escape from the Bermuda Love Triangle that is Damon/Stefan/Elena. Instead it seems that the most eternal thing about the series is not its vampire protagonists but its tendency to make you want to smack the hell out of Elena. Being emotionally torn is one thing. Making out with your boyfriend's brother (repeatedly) behind his back is another.

The much-maligned anonymous inheritor of Smith's series does manage to

Elena and friends are off to college. Hopefully, they can take a break from the paranormal upheaval that has marked their lives lately. Of course, that may be a bit much to expect, so it's a good thing they try to stay alert to new threats cropping up on campus. Students are disappearing, being attacked at night; but, who or what is behind the violence? Meanwhile, a secret about Elena's parents comes to light. Bonnie finally has a boyfriend, but is he all that he seems? Matt is happy to be invi ...more

Warning - I tried to be vague, but there are some spoilers.

I enjoyed it, for the most part. I do agree though that Elena just simply belongs with Damon ;) I do find Stefan to be a little flat in this series - I understand he's the moral one, and has guilt issues, but I wish he would go through some character growth, like the other characters did, and like he does in the TV series (which has a completely different storyline, btw, but the underlying Stefan issues are there as well.) He just feels

I thought volume one of The Hunters novels lacked Smiths unique touch, and Moonsong only accentuated this feeling. I was quite disappointed in this novel, it followed no real path and had little action throughout the story; in fact it seemed more like a romance novel of Elena and Bonnie rather than a vampire and supernatural novel exploring the unknown world we'd all love to be a part of.

I hate how disappointed I was by this novel cause I truly enjoyed the rest of the books in this series that S

Well, I can't write too much of a review because of spoilers, but I really liked this one better than the first 'Hunter' book. The 'kids' are off to college, but not without baggage! We get a lot of new characters, some 'old' characters, and an interesting storyline. In the beginning of the book, the Stefan-Elena-Damon triangle seems to be settled, but you KNOW that never lasts for long! It takes a few arcs in this book, seemingly resolved yet again by the end. BUT! You get another cliffhanger a ...more

The first third of this book was actually decent! Enough time has passed since I read Panthom (which I hated) that I could look with a semi-open mind at this and I actually kind of enjoyed the first part. I like the setting, I generally like books about college, and there was a bit of a 'Chamber of Secrets' feel going on with the disappearances. Unfortunately, then it all went bad. Matt and Bonnie are again made out to be morons, give these characters some credit please! The plot began
