Though it happened merely minutes ago, I don't remember why this book randomly popped into my head today. Now I'm wondering how long it's been since I forgot this book existed? How could I have forgotten?

I didn't love this book for the story. For me, the story barely existed. It was the photographs that held endless appeal and fascination. I would flip through this book and imagine I was there. Whether at the wooden country table deciding what to eat for breakfast or in the city house enviously

One of my son's first books was A Mouse in the House by Henrietta, a cute little book where children are invited to find a mouse as she explores a house during a birthday party. Although he's now in second grade, the book remains a sentimental favorite for him and his younger sister.

This is a sweet story! My daughter couldn't sit through it until well after she was five, but the entire story is a well written poem, and she loves to find the starring mouse (or mice) and peas on every brightly illustrated page. It's a good wind-down read in the evening.
