I'm torn. Lots of great photos, but not a lot of variety in the stitches used. Which means they are simple and easy to do. Which I like. But the variety depends on using novelty yarns, which are a) expensive and b) sometimes annoying to knit with.

I guess, if going this direction, I'd like to be given more indepth info on how to choose good color combinations or good yarn combinations. For an experienced knitter the info is pretty basic. I think they could have added more *design* info while keeping the stitches basic for beginners, and then it could appeal to both.

As far as the scarves they have as examples, most of them are gorgeous (there is only one that it hideous - it has ruffled ends where fringe would be - ick). She does do the same pattern in different yarns to show you how you can vary the yarn and get very different results.

Overall a good one to have for inspiration and ideas, or for beginners.

Patterns aren't all that interesting and very basic. The biggest novelty is the types of yarns used along with the idea of knitting together 2 strands of different yarn. Frustrated that the pictures are too small to actually see the pattern and texture of projects. I have used some of these specialty yarns with other patterns.

Some absolutely hideous thing, but some very cool things too. A neat book to cherry-pick through.

I love this book - I love the idea of using different yarns together to produce different textures. Definitely a book I'm going to buy when I have some money.
