About the author

When Rich Fogel was growing up in Oakland, California, his mother always told him that he was wasting his time by reading comic books and watching too many cartoons — but that was before Rich went on to become an Emmy Award-winning writer/producer.
After graduating from Stanford University and studying Cinematography at the American Film Institute’s Center for Advanced Film Studies, Rich broke into the television animation business in 1978 as a storyboard artist on The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse. Since then, he has gone on to write for many of the most popular animated shows on television, including The Smurfs, The Flintstones, Muppet Babies, Pinky & the Brain, The New Superman/Batman Adventures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Transformers: Animated.
Over the years, Rich’s writing has won many honors, including two Emmy Awards, a Prism Award and a Genesis Award. In 2005, he was nominated for a Writers Guild Award for his work on Justice League.
Today, Rich lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Marilyn Morrison. He still reads comic books and still watches cartoons, and his mother is very proud of him.
