Ranger Security expert Tanner Crawford is lethally sexy. With his hair-trigger temper, smart-ass mouth and lady-charmer ways, he's no stranger to trouble. And it turns out that trouble's no stranger to him, either. Because Mia Hawthorne, the only woman who ever rocked his world, just tumbled back into his life. As a client he must protect!
Ah, hell. Anybody but her…
When Mia sees Tanner, her carefully ordered world screeches to a halt. It starts right up again though— in his bed! Sex with Tanner is still incredible. But he's a bad boy destined to break her heart once more… and she craves stable and predictable. Doesn't she?
Well, maybe. But first, she's going to find out exactly what she's been missing. And this time, she'll be the one to walk away.
I fell asleep reading this book, so it's fair to say that the story didn't grab my full attention... Tanner and Mia were likable and their love scenes were hot (of course, LOL), but they spent too much time thinking about the past and that dragged the story until they decided to move on. All in all, this was an OK read and I'm still a fan of Ms. Nelson's writing, but she's done better - and hopefully, her next book will get her back on track.
I can name on one hand the authors I read from the 200 page or so Harlequin shelves. Rhonda Nelson is one - I just love her work. She writes strong women heroines and steam-a-licious heroes. She moves the plot right along and doesn't get into crazy bad guy climax scenes that are drawn out.
I don't really get where the renegade part comes in, apart from it being a nickname of his from a long-forgotten past... but the story is ok, it's easy on the eyes and the mind. So if you're in the mood for some easy-going romance, with a few laughs and lots of flirting – then this should do the trick.
"This book may seem like escapist literature and in many ways it is but Tanner is a man scarred by what he's seen in Mosul, it is also a story of a man needing to put himself back together." from a review posted by an eHarlequin.com member, to read more go here.
I really enjoyed this! Tanner was a perfect blend of vulnerable and sexy. I'm always a little wary of "the old lovers meet again" premise, but this one was well done. I've enjoyed this entire series.
As always Rhonda Nelson knows how to write a great quick read! Something everyone needs now an again! I have to say that The Renegade was one of my favs.
