Meine eigenen Rauscherfahrungen bewegen sich in einem eng begrenzten Rahmen. Abgesehen von schlimmen Saufereien beim Grundwehrdienst und dem ein oder anderen Adrenalinrausch, bin ich quasi im Drogenbereich ein unbeschriebenes Blatt. Gelegenheiten haben sich im Laufe der Jahre einige angeboten, leider meistens in Gegenden dieser Welt, in denen man besser in dieser Frage bei klarem Verstand bleiben sollte. Wow! Where to start describing this amazing journey through what Jünger calls Approaches? This book is a personal recollection of his experiments with various illicit drugs, from hashish and ether to LSD and hallucinogenics. Wie immer möchte ich alles noch einmal lesen, aber diesmal genauer (jedenfalls ab ungefähr der Hälfte). Störende Angewohnheit, jeden Gedankengang mit einem Hauptsatz am Ende noch einmal aphoristisch zusammenzufassen. Wahrscheinlich wollte er im Alter besonders bedeutungsvoll klingen. Über Drogen erfährt man wenig und die Tripberichte sind seltsam lieblos und kurz. Manches wird nur angedeutet, als gelte es, ein Geheimnis zu bewahren – das kommt mir verdächtig vor. Es difícil decir algo de esto, es inmenso. La prosa de Junger es inmensa. Desde las intuiciones que yo también tenía sobre la coraza que cargan los bebedores de cerveza y lo meticuloso del bebedor de vino. O de la ampliación del tiempo que acontece con Guy de Maupassant por el uso del opio. Lo respetuoso al abordar los rituales de pasaje mexicanos y su nada oculta condena a sus dioses.

I did enjoy reading about Jünger's experiences with different drugs. But to me to much of the book is made of intellectual discussions very loosely connected to it. I found it boring and it made the book feel direction-less.
