This book is not so much read as used as a resource when needed.

I find it is a comprehensive resource for some of the most common birds in North America. The illustrations are solid and the organization and information well thought out. It is also small and light enough to be carried in a pack while out in the field.

Quick pocket guide for if you want to learn basic birds but wouldn't be my go to reference book
