Thank You for Submitting Your Proposal: A Foundation Director Reveals What Happens Next

Rate this book
In barely a whisper, the head of the foundation leans over and furtively says, Let me tell you how this really works. Then he divulges, from A to Z, what happens behind closed doors when a proposal is considered for funding. That would be Martin Teitel, a 30-year veteran of the foundation world and head of the Cedar Tree Foundation in Boston. His book, Thank You for Submitting Your A Foundation Director Reveals What Happens Next, took a measure of courage to write. You don't pull back the curtains of the inner sanctum without incurring your colleagues wrath. For anyone submitting grant proposals, it's a fascinating read. More importantly, it's the ultimate insider's guide to playing the proposal game AND winning. Teitel's book is so intimate you ll feel like you're reading someone else's mail. A perfect companion to How to Write Knockout Proposals, by Joseph Barbato.

I learned from this book that writing a funding proposal sounds a lot like trying to get fiction published. Lots of encouragement in between warnings that you will likely work very hard and then fail. How enticing.

The back of the book says,"With compassion, humor and dead-on advice, Martin Teitel makes the serious subject of winning grants accessible to everyone."

If you have need to read a book on writing grant proposals, this one is fairly enjoyable.
