Recommends it for: female first-time college students
I wish I had found this book in my first year of uni! Alas, I found it towards the end. Unlike most "college manuals" this one only has a very short section on studying. I got this as a high-school graduation present. So many books your get as gifts end up on a shelf untouched. Or as you pack to head to college get left behind. But this is one that I decided to bring with me. I was really glad that I did. It ended up being pretty useful, having some good advice, and information.

If you're headed to a grad party, consider this as a gift idea.

Read this in a freshman orientation course at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. Yes, I'm old and it was pre-Google. But, I enjoyed it and frequently used it as a reference. I have bought it for many of my students as high school graduation gifts.

This book is definitely dated, but the book has quite a bit of useful information for college students of either gender.
