I quite enjoyed it and did take a few notes to either go back to or work on as I haven't mastered my praying and feel a little distant. If you're a Christian and struggle with praying(or relationship with the Creator), this would be a good guideline to follow. For me, it was very effective and I think I'd be for you, too. ...more

This small book is extremely useful. It talks about how to pray, when to pray, and what we need in order to pray effectively.
With this book the author encourages you to have a prayer life as Jesus had. Also, it is read fast but as all Torrey’s books, contains a lot of information to process.
Pray, pray, pray!

A powerful yet user-friendly classic on prayer. I think the reader can gain much, even though it was written over 100 year ago. Clearly the examples are of that time, but the truths on prayer are timeless.

Experience is worth following

R. A. Torrey experience in prayer, experienced prayer, and wrote about how prayer works in this book.

The scripture and practical truths give focus and encouragement to experiencing prayer for oneself.

A must read

I would recommend this book for those who have problems praying. This book outlined areas in your life that may be contributing to the inability of praying earnestly to God our father

Early Thoughts on Prayer Still Hold True Today

A thoughtful look at prayer from several different angles. It will stir your heart and encourage you to be more of a participant rather than a spectator. An easy read, but far from simplistic.

Although it’s a small book that could be a quick read, I found myself only reading a chapter at a time, thinking about it and applying it. Then moving on to the next.

Fantastic, blessed book!

This book made me break down in tears three times.

I never expected I’d be reduced to tears thrice by a small 125-page book.

But, alas, here we are...

A very earnest exhortation to prayer, and in that spirit it is very much appreciated. Yet the teaching on prayer presented here does not rise to the level of the biblical genius of prayer.

“God is deeply grieved by the thanklessness and ingratitude of which so many of us are guilty. When Jesus healed the ten lepers and only one came back to give Him thanks, in wonderment and pain He exclaimed, "Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?" (Luke 17:17, R.V.)
How often must He look down upon us in sadness at our forgetfulness of His repeated blessings, and His frequent answer to our prayers.”
