Starting Well--Building a Strong Foundation for a Life Time of Ministry

Rate this book
This paper back book gives basic shaping processes for a young emerging leader. Character shaping and early ministry experiences are crucial to a good start. A good start, that is, building the foundations of ministry moves a leader on to understand the basic concept, that ministry flows out of being. Such a paradigm shift, moving to ministry flowing out of being, is a major step on continuing well and eventually finishing well.

Finally got around to finishing this and Scazzero’s Emotionally Healthy Leadership since I only read individual chapters from them for a class last semester. Both of them are great companion pieces that can assist the vocational ministry person and layperson and living a life of faithfulness.

Starting Well talks about leadership development with the end game in mind - finishing well! Clinton asserts that most leaders do not finish well unless they are intentional about it. He uses the lives and leadership decisions of biblical leaders as examples. I found his chapters on foundation of character, the issue of destiny, and strategies for starting well most helpful.

A very informational and encouraging read for people entering the ministry. I would highly recommend to all persons considering vocational ministry or even for those just beginning their career voyage.
