Age 8 - 12 years, Grade 3 - 7

The idea is simple. Someone asks for a part of a verb, a noun, an adjective, or an adverb. We've included definitions and examples of the parts of speech in case you've forgotten. Players call out their ideas to fill in the blanks and in the end, you have a story reeling from one silly sentence to another until nothing makes sense. That's what you call a Mad Lib the world's greatest word game. Players have been howling with friends or laughing all to themselves for over 35 years!

Here's where the fun begins. Check out The Original Mad Libs. Once you hear the laughs this one inspires, you'll probably want to play the rest.

I am a fan of Mad Libs. From my youth until now, I have found them to be fun. But even more than fun, Mad Libs are a good way of teaching children about parts of speech. What seems to be a mundane activity becomes fun using Mad Libs.
