This is a very good book, especially if you are on the Em Path. I bought this from Amazon where some clown had given it a low rating because there was little about sex in it. That is the problem I've had with tantra all along is watching the porn industry and skeezes turn it into some cheap thrill. This book is about mentally preparing yourself for the relationship with your Secret Lover. This requires a great deal of personal work and in-depth meditation. I do agree with others that the ritual ...more

This book is unique. Like most books on the subject, it's a workbook and not just one you read.

This is a fascinating book, but I suspect that to truly appreciate it you need to have a background in hermetic magic and an understanding of the concept of the Holy Guardian Angel as understood in Thelema (the latter of which I can not claim to have). In order to carry out the central ritual -- an elaborate working involving sex magic (either as part of a heterosexual couple, homosexual couple, or solo) -- you need to be committed enough to do some serious prep work and allow at least a year fo ...more

This book was a great take on the subject. It's been a couple of years since I last skimmed through it but I still remember the first time I read it. I wasn't too familiar with the subject back then and this was certainly a good introduction. Good for beginners although perhaps not enough in-depth for those more familiar with this kind of stuff.

Certainly something you actually work with, not just for reading. Very practical and articulate, not difficult to follow.

Bonus points for Crowley fanboyi

I thought the theory was great, but the main ritual is a bit of a drag. It takes a few years to complete. Compared to other people's approach (like Alan Chapman), I think this is way too over-complicated,

“One real danger in love relationships is that most people secretly believe that they must control the love object in order to feel safe in loving and being loved. The cause of this is simple—children are made to feel that they must "give themselves up" if they are to be loved. Thus, for most humans the act of surrender has meant the loss of autonomy or worse—loss of one's own mind.
Surrender is neither control nor morbid dependency and cannot be made contingent upon giving away one's "soul"; nonetheless, the person surrendering opens completely to the moment, and runs the risk of being deeply hurt. Sadly, in our society this is not uncommon and frequently serves to harden or embitter a person toward life in general. Or, on the other had being deeply hurt in the act of surrender can lead to angry and painful "cries for help." When this occurs there is an insatiable and wrathful desire to be cared for as a child is cared for and the horrid fear of loss of independence.”
