Fiona used a variety of different tools for her paintings that I had not yet tried including: "pointer brushes", Q-tips (for berries and seedheads), a palette knife, sharpened sticks and Yupo synthetic paper, which allows the watercolors to flow differently than cotton or wood-pulp paper.

She provided a multitude of outlines for tracing various flowers on to your paper to try her projects. An outline as well as in depth directions are given for painting: daffodils in a pitcher, sweet mock orange, magnolias, camellias, and blue hydrangea.

Overall, I enjoyed her slightly loose interpretations of the flowers and her techniques for painting. I wish she had provided an outline and directions for her lovely yellow water lily painting.

Super-useful!! This book assumes you know nothing, and starts with how to best hold the brush, how to dilute your paints for the wash you want, etc, etc. It's the only one I've found so far that starts at the very beginning, for those of us without previous art education.

It has beautiful pictures and easy to understand instructions. I found it too technical for me.
