Fragments

Rork #1

by Andreas

Volume 1 in the Rork series of eight graphic novels. Ageless, with long white hair and an austere face, Rork comes from a parallel world and travels through time and space. Sometimes a spectator, sometimes the player, he is the converging centre of contradictory forces. The objective of this likeable but sometimes confounding character is to escape from the influence of these strange controlling forces and to finally be the master of his own destiny. His journey consists of seven stages and unfolds over three centuries. The Rork series is notable for its use of allegory, mysticism, visual sequencing and unusual "dynamic" framing, with a visual structure and rhythm rather uncommon in European comics.

This one was cool! Nice lil magical/supernatural/sci fi mysteries displayed in beautiful artwork. Things did seem to resolve quickly but that didn’t take away the intrigue of the story. I bought my copy at Stuart Ng books in Torrance, CA and it has the most wonderful old book smell.
