Deaf World: A Historical Reader and Primary Sourcebook
An essential anthology of Deaf perspectives

The wealth of information here about Deaf culture and the lives of Deaf people is so helpful. I have a nephew who is Deaf and will be using all I have learned from this book to better communicate with and understand him. It's a long read, but well worth it, with essays from varying Deaf writers who provide different perspectives on what it's like to be part of the Deaf community.

As Teacher of Auslan, this book explains a whole range of history and exploring our Deaf World. All students studying Auslan should read this book. I'm a fan of history, knowing the difficulties we faces full force in the past and present.

This great book addresses questions hearing readers would like to have answers to, but embarrassed to ask or feel they may be inappropriate or ofensive.
