I was thrilled to see this book. Our church does a Daniel Fast every January and I've seen the changes it makes in people. My own pastor's wife started the Fast last January and just kept going with it. She says that through it God helped her deal with some real bondage issues with food in general and by July she was like a different person (1/2 the person she was before). It is amazing to see! This cookbook is designed for someone that already knows what the Daniel Fast is all about and what it consists of. This is just to help you with some wonderful variety while you do it. They actually have ways to help you make this a lifestyle instead of just a 21, 30 or 40 day thing. I think that is great. They have found ways to make vegetables yummy, and delicious. In fact some of you have probably not even heard of some of these vegetables (I was thrilled to see an eggplant parmesan recipe in there!). I see this book as a must have companion to making the Daniel Fast successful in your life.

I won a copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I had no idea what the Daniel Fast was or the purpose. I was interested in this book because I try to eat meatless and my sister needs to eat gluten-free, so when her family visits, it's difficult to come up with a meal for everyone. That being said, this cookbook offers a variety of tasty recipes to solve this problem. I found myself to be familiar with most the ingredients, and if I wasn't, there are super helpful captions explaining them. The ingredients tend to be things I have on hand, and the directions are well-written and simple to follow. Many of the recipes have photos. If I could change just a couple things, I would change the cookbook to have photos of all recipes and the binding of the paperback so it would lay flat while cooking. I've tried a couple of the recipes, and they have been tasty, healthy, and simple. I believe this would be an ideal cookbook for someone participating in the Daniel Fast; for myself, it provides some delicious side dish ideas. Thanks for the copy!

I haven’t had a chance to try out the recipes but they are mouth watering! I’m not big on fruits and veggies but I know that I need them even though I still enjoy my breads and pastas! The recipes in the book are dairy and gluten free as well as vegan – so if you’re looking for some new recipes and you’re on these diets then you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The one recipe I really, really want to try is the homemade Essene Bread and the wheat and gluten free Macaroni and cheese (not dairy free though as it does call for mozzarella cheese) – I told you I’m big on the breads and pastas. So with the illustrations and inspiration along with over 200 recipes (many that are dairy and gluten free) this is one cookbook you’ll enjoy.

This book is a nice addition to my growing library of Christian books on fasting. As I am learning more spiritual fasting options, especially the Daniel fast, I appreciate the tips and recipes provided by these experienced fasters. However, there are two reasons I did not 5 star this book: 1) the use of rice cheeses in the recipes, as I thought processed foods are a no-no in the Daniel fast and 2) the lack of photographs. The recipes are full of beautiful fresh veggies and grains and additional color pictures would help the pages pop.

Thank you Goodreads First Reads for my copy of this book. Happy Fasting!

I won this book through the Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I've never heard of the Daniel Fast before, but I found going through the recipes they sound very good! I'm always wanting to try healthier alternatives when cooking so I am very excited to start using this cookbook. The dressings and pastas sounded the most amazing. There quite a few ingredients I'm not familiar with, but other than that it's a great cookbook! Thanks for the free copy and I look forward to using it!

I was really excited to win a copy of this book. Every year my church does the Daniel Fast for three weeks. After a few days, I usually get bored of eating nothing but salads and quit. But with all the great recipes in this book I know that won’t happen again. I’m looking forward to eating healthier and trying out many of these dishes – especially the pumpkin lasagna!
