About the author

Les Martin has written dozens of books for young readers, including the RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM movie storybooks, and many Young Indiana Jones middle-grade novels. He has also adapted many classic works of fiction for young readers, including THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, EDGAR ALLAN POE'S TALES OF TERROR, and THE VAMPIRE. It’s weird I liked Indiana Jones as a kid but unlike with Star Wars’ books I didn’t devour Indiana Jones spinoffs (still don’t really). This was one of the only books I did read. Unlike the mummy one, I didn’t care so much for this one, it just didn’t have the same appeal as kid Indy fighting WWI Nazis or meeting Sallah. Beyond the villain dispatching themselves in standard Indy villain fashion (hubris and underestimating the artifact they are looking for). There just wasn’t anything as memorable about it.

Boken är helt klart skriven för barn, vilket märks när man läser den som lite äldre. Dessutom är det märkbart att den är skriven på tidigt 90-tal, då språket i den inte hade varit okej att använda idag. Däremot blev jag positivt överraskad av att romerna rättade dem när de kallade dem något annat och att Indiana & CO rättade sig själva när de sa fel (i alla fall framför romernas ansikte).
Som bok är den helt klart en typisk young indiana historia, men kanske inte en av de allra bästa. Dock är den inte heller bland de sämsta - men särskilt slutet var väldigt intetsägande. Det var inget som störde mig som barn, men något jag reflekterade på nu

The year is 1914 and Indy is getting older. His father sends him and a young assistant to France for a manuscript but things do not go as planned. They never do and Indy is off on another adventure. A nice read with a little history thrown into the mix, as all the Young Indy books do.

It took a while to get moving but Thorn's transformation still seemed to quick. Overall it was enjoyable but nothing special

Not too bad for an older, adventury book. I've read more exciting Indiana Jones books, but this one certainly isn't the worst I've read.

Author Les Martin seems to have a good handle on this sort of thing. It's kids stuff, for sure, yet it does manage to capture a bit of that INDIANA JONES spark.

A fun, light adventure that took only one afternoon to read. It’s definitely written for kids with a specific reading level in mind, so adults might find it too light and stilted. Sometimes a light, fast read is exactly what I need, though, so I will probably read more of Young Indy’s adventures. Probably on some rainy afternoon with a cup of tea.
