• Color theory for crafters, plus appealing projects glowing with color
Collage is a favorite with crafters at every level—it’s fun and easy. But sometimes the results can be a little…drab. No more! Collage with Color shows crafters how to create brilliantly colored collages by decorating papers with acrylics, watercolors, and watercolor dyes. Author Jane Davies explains color theory in clear, straightforward terms, then moves on to step-by-step demonstrations of such exciting techniques as spritzing and blotting, wet-in-wet, and free-form dripping. Then it’s time to create stunning collage projects packed with dynamic, exciting color, including scrapbook pages, cards, gift bags, journals, altered books, and more. Collage with Color will add color to every crafter’s life!
Very good explanation of creating your own painted papers with watercolor and acrylic, then using those papers in collage. I liked the instruction parts of the book, but not so much the finished products.
This is a very nice introduction to the concept of collage. It also includes primers on pattern, color theory and composition. Nice tutorials on a variety of painting your own papers, a good compendium of materials and processes, and some templates for making boxes and other items.
Great for teaching the properties of color. Also various techniques to apply paint to paper in various forms.
This book contains a table for printmaking and watercolor, paper weights, in other words, how to convert paperweights to grams per square meter. I have been looking for that.
This one has a nice run down on various common techniques as well as materials and mediums. There are project ideas as well, but some look a bit dated. If you’re intermediate to advanced you probably know many of the techniques, so this has more to offer someone beginning to explore mixed media and collage.
I got a lot of different ideas for collage projects, as well as some fun and different ideas with paint and other mediums. Techniques are explained well, and good photos of projects help too.
wow!

"A collage is an assemblage of papers or other materials glued onto a support to create a meaningful image or decorative composition."
***
1. Complementray colors -> "appear opposite to each other on the color wheel. Each consists of a primary color and the second color mixed from the remaining two primaries.."
-> "when a color is placed next to its complement, both colors tend to appear more intense, even to vibrate or clash."
-> mixing ant comp. color pair will produce dull/mud brown.
**
2. Analogous colors:
-> near each other on the color wheel. ex: red and orange.
Not my taste at all. The type of art and projects (cards, earrings)that you find in some hip little hippie shop and they all look the same. Not really innovative at all.
