Good nutrition is an important facet of good health, and good nutrition is even more important for runners. Whether a person is running a 5-minute mile or a 15-minute mile, their body needs the right fuel for performance, recovery, and overall health. In Run. Walk. Eat., runners will have the best nutritional guidelines to eat for training and performance. Olympian and running coach Jeff Galloway and registered dietitian nutritionist Carissa Galloway break down nutrition to provide readers with simple changes that not only improve performance, but also lead to lifelong eating habits. They provide a nutrition education that puts the runner in charge of their food choices to train harder, perform better, and recover faster. For those runners with additional weight-loss goals, the authors provide weight-loss strategies. Also included are meal plans, shopping lists, and 21 recipes. This nutrition guide is meant to accompany Jeff Galloway’s proven Run Walk Run® method and can be incorporated into any run-walk-run training program.
The information provided was straightforward and easily consumable, but it needed some more editing. There were quite a few spelling and grammatical mistakes that were scattered throughout as well as sentences that didn’t make sense because they were missing words or the sentence structure was weird. The formatting of the book could have been a bit better as well. Overall 3/5 because of the amount of information, but it definitely needed a few more passes through an editor before being published.
This would be a decent book to start with if you’re new to running and focusing on your nutrition. But this book REALLY needed another round or two of editing. Chapter 6 was a struggle. Lots of things are repeated and really didn’t need to be. I also struggled with how Jeff is giving nutrition advice. I thought that part should’ve been left to Carissa, the one who is formally trained and left the running part to Jeff.
Great resource on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle when it comes to food/eating. And love that there is a focus on relating it all to running. A friend got me this book and it’s great to have on hand for good recipes and to check on info easily. (I did the Noom app in 2021 for a couple years so a lot of the information was the same. A good reminder for me! But also a far cheaper way than an app with a subscription for those that do not want to pay for an app.)
A great educational book on how to fuel your body. The best part of the book is that it’s given me so many new meal ideas and ways to get creative with food in a healthy way. Also plenty of ideas for quick and easy meals for busy lifestyles.
This book is a great resource on how to properly fuel your body for all different types of runs. It simply explains how the body functions and responds during runs. It also provides great ideas for nutritional snacks and meals.
Straight forward focus on healthy diet to accompany an active lifestyle. While nothing was overly new in terms of the tips I really enjoyed some new ideas for meal options
I loved how this was an easy read but packed with lots of great information. Will keep this in my kitchen to help myself and my husband stay on track to a healthier lifestyle.
