About the author

James C. Humes was Ronald Reagan's speechwriter. He also wrote speeches for George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon and Dwight Eisenhower. He has served as a communications advisor to major U.S. corporations, including IBM and DuPont. He is the author of twenty-three other books.

A relatively quick read but it does cover the high and low points of his life. If you’ve seen the movie “The Darkest Hour” the segment showing Churchill dictatating a speech to his secretary while she tries to keep up by typing rather than doing shorthand is pretty much the same in the book as in the movie. You can easily find more extensive and detailed biographies but this one will give you the basics.

Значи през живота си съм чел 3 биографии на Чърчил- 1 комунистическа и две, писани от англичани. Да се чуди човек коя от коя е по-абсурдна. Тази точно ми напомня на лафа как се изменят на думи недостатъците на богатите мъже: от дебел става пухкав, от темеруд става своенравен, от луд става ексцентричен, от грозен- човек с особен и необясним чар. Авторът е трябвало не книга да пише, а да си вземе един портрет на Чърчил и пакетче мокри кърпички. Такъв рядко срещан дебилизъм като тази книга е явление! Брутална гавра с историята, примесена и с логически дупки, и взаимоизключващи се твърдения (в биография нямам идея как може да го постигнеш, но успял е човекът). Че то аз ако седна по-безпристрастна биография мога да напиша на дъртото пиянде.

Churchill was an amazing man: artist, author, world leader. His prognostication of wars and other world events - including the day of his own death - is mind-boggling. The world may never see another soul so dedicated to his morals and western freedoms.
