Recounts the ground war in Vietnam between 1965 and 1967, shares the experiences of individual soldiers, and follows the actions of the North Vietnamese.
This volume explores how the conflict spread across borders and drew in neighboring countries, showing how regional politics and shifting alliances deepened the complexity of the war. The book presents these developments in a straightforward way, and the visuals, including photographs and maps, help clarify the broader geographic and political landscape. Some topics are treated briefly, but the narrative succeeds in demonstrating how the war expanded beyond Vietnam itself. It works well as an accessible overview for readers who want a simple explanation of this widening phase of the conflict.
This is a good version of the events, but the statistics of dead and wounded are wrong due to the Army's desire to down play the tremendous losses the 173rd Airborne incurred at Dak To.The constant question of why did we fight against communism in Vietnam is answered by the statement it was communism, and the communist nationalised the oil wells, rubber plantations, and opium plantations(morphine production) etc, etc! The west then placed trade sactions against the communist that only hurt the American People.
