This book does an excellent job presenting mid-century modern design and suggestions on how to decorate to fit houses of that era. The authors first present a review of early 20th century design and how it lead to mid-century design as we now know it. They then present the "Ingredients of the Modern Retro Look" including furniture, lighting, rugs etc. before moving on the specific room designs. The book is full of gorgeous photos of interiors, which are sure to be appreciated by people owning mid-century houses or trying to recreate the look. The styles presented vary from neutrals to bright colors, as well as from minimalist styles to more lived-in decors. The book is sure to provide plenty of ideas.
As someone who is living with mid-century modern style, sort of like one lives with an odd mole or grey hair, I appreciate this book bringing color to and working with all this wood furniture. It's even starting to grow on me. Good book.
