This is a pretty old book that was recommended to me by a very successful email marketer and i am glad he did. A lot of the things Jay talks about in this book are 100% applicable to current businesses right now, and i still can't believe how many people don't use these tactics. Now i don't own a business but there are ways you can leverage the ideas he puts forth and use them being an employee which is what i plan to do until i get my side business off the ground. I actually couldn't take notes ...more

Jay Abraham is a strange guy. He likes to brag about how much he can convince companies to pay him in a single day. He is friends with a lot of people who get paid huge amounts of money for vague and sometimes contradictory advice. He is not one of those people.

He is, instead, a fire hose of ideas, some of which will be relevant to whatever you are selling. I photograph book pages when I want to remember something I've read; this had my highest photo-to-page ratio of 2014. Within the first five

Some good stuff at the beginning, tapering off into more obvious and trite strategies as it goes on. I guess I found this an easy read because I already knew a lot of what's in it. By the end, it gets into seriously outdated advice about internet marketing, which is pretty funny. (Ex. Don't waste time trying to get into every search engine. Instead, focus on the top eight: Lycos, Alta Vista, HotBot, Northern Light, Excite, In

This book is a mix of so many things that are not always going well together. Moreover it did not age well at all.

Useless, for me. He establishes the need for the mindset of client over customer, which is fine if you are trying to build a business where you can sacrifice product and service to build up that clientele. But for people selling one time only items, and will never be selling them again; i.e. seeking the best/highest price, the information wasn't helpful at all. And in this recession? I'm still not sure it's helpful. Businesses are struggling to survive. Giving things away for nothing is an even ...more

Garbage. This is one of those get-rich quick scheme books as hard as he tries to cover it up.

Abraham is a very good motivational writer and will give basic information that everyone knows and put them in the most professional way so that his readers can say "Oh wow what amazing advice he's giving".

Don't bother.

Good book with a lot of actionable information.

Who Should Read This: Small Business Owners - Entrepreneurs - Sales People - Copywriters - Speakers - And anyone else who is looking to influence others by adding value and getting money in return.

This book shares the same style as the Harvey MacKay or Dale Carnegie books. It does NOT have a clear order, it just shares a LOT of wisdom, insights, and actionable advice. This does not take away from its value, but you have to read it slowly to let th

An excellent overview of methods to achieve business growth. Abraham introduces the fundamentals such as using direct mail and telemarketing. The book shines in describing ways to set up barter deals, rent lists, and the importance of emphasizing customer lifetime value. It is a marketing book that one could read more than once.

Suggestions for the next edition of the book:
1) the Internet marketing section needs a major update. Social media, pay per click etc are not even mentioned. i would also

Hands down one of the top 5 business books I've ever read as contains a wealth of knowledge.
Few of the takeaways:
Increase number of clients. Increase average size of sales per client. Increase the number of times clients return and buy again.
Split test everything.
Always look for complementary products to upsell.

With specific, real-life examples, as well as helpful concepts (like the Principle of Preeminence) to maximize client-business owner relationships, this book is simply a handbook for entrepreneurs hoping to grow their business. Written with clear, straightforward, and conversational prose, one can take time to study the principles and case studies from the book.

This book has some useful insights, and Jay Abraham is full of ideas.

It is an old book, and the internet marketing part is hilariously dated (e.g., it mentions top 10 Search Engines - none of them is Google).

The advice is hardly groundbreaking, but it can help set your thinking gears in motion, and that is valuable.

Unfortunately this book is not on Audible, however, well worth the effort.

It has some fantastic ideas that you could implement into any business, as I have into my Mortgage Broker business.

Page 5 has this mind blowing concept of 50% growth with just making 10% increases in 5 key areas. I was quick to make a spreadsheet and play with the concept and it is truly a game changer.
