This book is just hilarious and darn right educational as well. Younger boys are going to adore this one since it is written in their language of gross. Boys around nine or ten are sometimes difficult to buy gifts for and this one would be an excellent choice. The chapter on vampire bugs will definitely delight them. There are also notes on how to make fake blood, barf, snot and vomit.
My 8 year old son selected this and asked me to read it to him. Even he decided we didn't need to finish it. He said, "This is dumb; I'm done." It mostly taught bad manners, and it wasn't funny.
This book is educational, funny and down right disgusting. I gagged several times while reading it. The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Gross Junior Edition has information on just about every disgusting thing imaginable: boogers, vomit, spit, dog poop, lice, roaches, pimples, warts... the list goes on and on.
I learned a few interesting things like how to easily disinfect a toilet plunger, tricks for getting rid of warts, and which stall to use in a public bathroom.
Aimed at middle grade boys this book is sure to be a hit with them. Now that I'm done reading it I'll be turning my copy over to my 9 year old son, it's right up his alley. I think I'll check out a couple of the other Worst-Case Scenario Handbooks.
Content: Too disgusting to be rated clean, ages 8+
A cool collection of photos and stories from individuals who have opted to have literary quotes, images, and ideas inked into their skins, forever linking themselves with these words and thoughts. I love this idea, and I was hugely interested in seeing which authors would make an appearance in the collection. Some that I expected- Shakespeare, Twain- were there, and others- Eric Carle- surprised me. There were definitely some obscure quotes and authors, which still intrigued me as much as those with which I'm strongly familiar. This book has me thinking...
This was a great surprise! I could not put this book down, it was an easy read, fun and very informative! Fun facts that impressed and entertained.
Ever wonder why bad breath happens, why you get car sick or what to do if you get a bloody nose? ...Well I do after reading this super fun educational book! Every household should own a copy.
Love the layout and illustrations too. Click on the add to cart button and you too will be a graduate of the WORST-CASE SCENARIO school of hard knocks.
I loved this book it was really funny and also a bit helpful to. I would say this genre is non-fiction because it has true facts and real life problems. My favorite part about this book was when the author was writing about rodent hairs and insects in foods because i thought it was really interesting and gross. This book is about gross problems in life and how to solve them. This book is very helpful but funny and interesting at the same time.
Eh. Some good info but it seemed like the author(s) are just trying too hard. Some kids will appreciate the excellent Ewwwwwwwww! factor. A good choice for reluctant readers.
