A struggling actor's request is answered from God as he walks to the 69th Oscar's Awards Show and enjoys the entire event and Govenor's Ball and later rides home in a limousine. Please enjoy this Cinderella-Like story and be uplifted and inspired. No ticket required.
Interesting premise, and the author seems like a nice guy, but the actual "book" is only about 20 pages, the rest of the pages are just copies of the Oscar Program.
The story is not well written and is disjointed in places; for example at one point there is kind of a flashback, but there's no transition so I thought I missed a page or wasn't clear on what was happening.
Summary: Short book, yes. But read it and no kidding, take notes for inspiration!!! I'm not screwing with you. Mr Dee Thompson took a fearless and ego-suspended journey right into the most unlikely actualization of his biggest dream!! It took me five pages to be hooked, but I was so invested by the end, when he got his souvenir and ended his night, I'm NOT KIDDING, it REALLY got me. Really. Omg what a charming person. These few negative reviews, clearly written by people who didn't read past the first intro pages, actually makes me sad. And defensive for Mr. Dee Thompson. Full disclosure: No, I didn't buy this book to like it (or to dislike it). I bought the book because I love On Cinema at the Cinema and saw the book via the fourth Oscar special. I bought the book as a sort of Patreon-style donation that supported Dee twice (book sales numbers AND the donation). What I GOT was the most charming author telling an INCREDIBLE account of a miracle evening. Seriously. I cannot over state how much Dee won my heart and I was NOT ready for it. It's short. Yes. Understand, buyers, if you buy this short book for a short price, that's what you're getting. A short book. But the story. How he just kept rejecting ego in favor of the GOAL and kept. winning. And winning. His triumphs in pursuit of his dream?!?! The last couple sentences literally got me coughing back tears. You think I expected that when I just wanted my On Cinema knick knack?!? He's just so dadblurn CHARMING. For the people who negatively viewed, then negatively reviewed, Dees ability to face his goal and DO IT (despite the insane odds!!) , well... = My guess would be, considering how rare it is for people to pursue even their simplest goals... annnd these negative reviews include their SELF assertion that they DIDN’T FINISH the book before —>declaring job done<-, maybe these people who can’t read 26 pages (before unironically claiming the book wasn’t long enough!!! HA!) maybe they don't have the kind of track record for goal completion, eh? Maybe it’s not a super that allows them space to feel joy for others who DO follow through? Woooo angry me haha Sorry but I am all Team Dee, now. But he's SOOO kind and likely would dislike a person speaking negatively, even in his defense. But. I'm not as kind \u200d♀️ No kidding, Mr Dee Thompson, I was not ready for this book!!!! I'm so so so so glad you didn't let anyone tell you “no" before that night, on that night, when publishing this book, or onward. I’m a reader. I read books all day every day. I read and read and read (prob finish books 300 pages long every four days or so, give or take) and THIS book had me shook. The most unexpected but truly affecting experience. And now I'm ride-or-die Dee Thompson so I hope anyone out there whose thinking of writing Mr Thompson a review, I highly suggest you read the book you're reviewing before you trash about the read you never read. Bc you have no idea what you're missing. Seriously, so charming. Don’t roll in expecting 26 pages of Hemingway. Expect to see raw kindness and sweet faith and if you want a little information about how to get somewhere no one else had the guts to go, it’s worth the investment. Support Mr Dee T and you’ll end up with some of THE best advice on getting where no one else has the courage to try to be.
The author doesn't use proper grammar or sentence structure and there is no sense of storytelling... It's like someone in line at a gas station is talking to you. I don't think anyone proofread this book at all. Also, it appears that the author has given himself two five star reviews for his own book. It doesn't get much sadder than that.
