Forbidden Gates: How Genetics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic Biology, Nanotechnology, & Human Enhancement Herald The Dawn Of Techno-Dimensional Spiritual Warfare

Rate this book
While Forbidden Gates includes fresh insights for traditional, tried and true methods of overcoming darkness, it also unveils for the first time how breakthrough advances in science, technology, and philosophy including cybernetics, bio-engineering, nanotechnology, machine intelligence, synthetic biology, and transhumanism will combine to create mind-boggling game-changes to everything you have ever known about spiritual warfare. How so?In recent years, astonishing technological developments have pushed the frontiers of humanity toward far-reaching morphological transformation that promises in the very near future to redefine what it means to be human. An international, intellectual and fast-growing cultural movement known as transhumanism intends the use of genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology (GRIN technologies) as tools that will radically redesign our minds, our memories, our physiology, our offspring, and even perhaps, as Joel Garreau in his bestselling book Radical Evolution claims, our very souls. The technological, cultural, and metaphysical shift now under way unapologetically forecasts a future dominated by this new species of unrecognizably superior humans, and applications under study now to make this dream reality are being funded by thousands of government and private research facilities around the world. As the reader will learn, this includes among other things rewriting human DNA and combining men with beasts, a fact that some university studies and transhumanists believe will not only alter our bodies and souls but could ultimately open a door to contact with unseen intelligence. As a result, new modes of perception between things visible and invisible are expected to challenge the Church in ways that are historically and theologically unprecedented. Without comprehending what is quickly approaching in related disciplines of research and development, vast numbers of believers could be paralyzed by the most fantastic and most far reaching supernatural implications. The destiny of each individual as well as the future of their family will depend on their knowledge of the new paradigm and their preparedness to face it head on.

I picked this up for the interesting subject matter but quickly determined that Thomas Horn has zero credibility. In addition to the fact that most of the material in this book has little or nothing to do with its title, FORBIDDEN GATES: BLAH BLAH BLAH is, to a large degree, a poorly constructed rehash of ideas already covered in Horn's previous books, all of which have been convincingly (to me, at least) debunked by reviewers who seem to have a better grasp on the subject matter than Horn does. Personally, I see Thomas Horn as a hack and can't help but suspect him of a degree of charlatanism. He's a transparently lazy writer, lecturer, and researcher who doesn't seem capable of resisting any opportunity for self-promotion and who never met a wild theory he didn't like. Nothing against the guy personally, and I have no idea whether or not his heart is in the right place, but I'm disappointed to see his ramblings endorsed by more mainstream Bible teachers like Chuck Missler.

This book focuses on GRIN (Genetics, Robotics, artificial Intelligence, Nano technology) or at least it’s supposed to! The Horns didn’t get around to the book’s theme until after page 184. This initial 40% of content discussed spiritual warfare. Although it was interesting, it wasn’t (usually) relevant. The transition from this to the discussion of technology was clumsy. It literally took place in about one sentence. They should’ve just published a separate book on spiritual warfare.

I’m at a loss in this review. The content ranges from one-star to four-star quality. There is some good, thoughtful discussion here but there is also quite a bit of nonsense. They reference some sources that I found to be less credible than I believe is warranted. This work was essentially self-published. As a result, the editing was probably not as independent as it should’ve been. A decent editor with a red pen full of ink could’ve improved it substantially. It was published in 2010 and I wish the footnotes would’ve mentioned when the online sites were visited. I visited some of them and they turned out to be dead but, hey, at least he had footnotes. There are some times, however, in which bold assertions are made without citations. I’d give the citations a C- grade.

I will say that, although I was often frustrated, I usually wasn’t bored. It is an informative book. It did take a lot of effort on my part to separate the wheat from the chaff though. The content sometimes has a copy/paste vide to it. If you’re interested in the topic, you would be better served to check out Brett Gillette’s Racing Toward Armageddon.

A CHRISTIAN CRITIQUE OF TRANSHUMANISM, ON A SPIRITUAL BASIS

The Preface to this 2010 book explains, “[This book] unveils for the first time how breakthrough advances in science, technology, and philosophy… will combine to create mind-boggling game changes to everything you have ever known about spiritual warfare… astonishing technological developments have pushed the frontiers of humanity toward far-reaching … transformation that promises in the very near future to redefine what it means to be human… transhumanism intends the use of genetic, robotics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology… as tools that will radically resign our minds, our memories, our physiology, our offspring, and even perhaps… our very souls… new modes of perception … are expected to challenge the church in ways that are historically and theologically unprecedented… the power operating behind the scheme to integrate human-animal-machine interfaces in order to reengineer humanity is not new. The ancient, malevolent force is simply repackaging itself … as the forward-thinking and enlightened progress needed for the next stop in human evolution… the power of Christ can be amplified against heretofore unknown adversarial manifestations.” (Pg. xv-xvii)

They state, “While … nearly all books on spiritual warfare abound with examples of people becoming possessed or demonized by entities as a result of deviant perversion… or other depravations of immoral behavior… the most powerful instruments of satanic bondage by far witnessed during our thirty-plus years of executive ministry were connected to something much more dangerous than personal failings… we refer [to] demons of religion that infest institutional Christianity.” (Pg. 91-92)

They observe, “The emphasis on the human mind as the primary battleground upon which the forces of good and evil struggle to dominate the will of men not only fills the pages of Scripture but was recognized the many ancient cultures, including the Greeks…” (Pg. 111)

Thomas recounts, “a writer for Wired magazine … contacted me to let me know she was writing an article … She had come across an editorial by me raising caution about this kind of experimentation and wondered if I might be willing to provide points for her article… elaborating in areas where I saw producing transgenic human-animals as potentially harmful… [I] sent a short summary of some … of the areas where concerns about this science could be raised. When the article was finally published… I was surprised that none of my notes had made it into the story… she replied.. [that] the editors had censored my cautionary notes during the editing process… I assured her, ‘I just think the reporting by most agencies is lopsided and missing the opportunity to thoroughly engage such an important issue.’” (Pg. 153-154)

They assert, “Where biotechnology is ultimately headed includes not only redefining what it means to be human, but redefining subsequent human rights as well… The underlying goal behind this theory would be to establish that basic cognitive aptitude should equal ‘personhood’ and that this ‘cognitive standard’ and not ‘human-ness’ should be the key to constitutional protections and privileges.” (Pg. 162)

They contend, “within every major culture of the ancient world, the astonishingly consistent story is told of ‘gods’ who descended from heaven and materialized in bodies of flesh… the earliest records of civilization tell of the era when powerful beings known to the Hebrews as ‘Watchers’ and in the book of Genesis as the … ‘sons of God’ mingled themselves with humans, giving birth to part-celestial, part-terrestrial hybrids known as ‘Nephilim.’ … some of the giants of the Old Testament such as Goliath were the part-human, part-animal, part-angelic offspring of a supernatural interruption into the divine order and natural development of the species.” (Pg. 179-180)

They wonder, “Could a modern form of a genetically altered Nimrod/Apolla returning as the Antichrist with an army of revived Nephilim … fulfill the sign of ‘the days of Noah,’ which Jesus said would mark the time just prior to His return?... we are happy … to share ‘other’ signs … we believe could be manifested in these troubling times as well---signs wherein true believers become the only power on earth against which this ‘spirit of transhumanism’ cannot prevail.” (Pg. 196-197)

They argue, “repeatedly missing from … secular considerations is what the authors … believe to be the more important element: supernaturalism and spirituality. Beyond the material ramifications of those threats posed by the genetics revolution is … that man is not just a series of biological functions. We are spirit and soul and vulnerable to spiritual, not just environmental, dangers… We will need SPIRITUAL SHIELDS too…” (Pg. 204) Later, they add, “those of us who treasure … Judeo-Christian values will progressively find ourselves engaged in deepening spiritual conflicts over maintaining our humanity in the midst of that … is fundamentally a supernatural conflict.” (Pg. 213)

They say, “People of faith… should find the idea of using technology to read the minds and manipulate the thoughts of individuals indefensible, as the vanguard of free will is fundamental to our religious and philosophical ethic… Yet how these issues… could actually represent a prophetic confluence of events that soon will combine in an ultimate showdown over the liberty of man may be an unavoidable and BEASTLY aspect of end-times prophecy.” (Pg. 232-233)

They point out, “Although most transhumanists… early on, were secular atheists… in the last few years, the exclusion of supernaturalism in favor of rational empiricism has softened as the movement’s exponential popularity has swelled… Today, with somewhere between 25-30 percent of transhumanists considering themselves religious, these separate sects… are coalescing their various religious worldviews around generally fixed creeds involving SPIRITUAL TRANSCENDANCE as a result of human enhancement.” (Pg. 252)

They conclude, “make no mistake about it: The gods of chaos are coming. They are poised to redefine what it means to be human, and to remove anyone or anything that stands in their way. The church must prepare for this now, both physically and spiritually, as the threat is real and spreading like cancer.” (Pg. 293)

This book will appeal to people (particularly Christians) seeking critiques of transhumanism.

I am deeply grateful for having read this book. The prophetic implications as they relate to the season we are living in has become more and more relevant and obvious since this book has been written. Thomas takes the time to do the research and provide the sources for us as he explains Transhumanism and how this is slowly but surely becoming a huge part of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Highly recommend.

I'm not necessarily a Tom Horn fan. I watched a documentary or two of his - I think it is the same guy. Anyway, this was an interesting book about genetic manipulation and stuff. Recommended for apocolypse enthusiasts.

An informative, haunting and page turning read of the dark path that Transhumanism actually leads too. The standard has been raised, and the presence of evil cannot be allowed to be unchecked or unchallenged. It keeps growing exponentially, but The Most High is a proven giant slayer.

It is a great book on these last days.

I have needed to reread this book because of what is happening in the biological, robotic, and geneticism of these last days.

Tom and Nita Horn tackle the anti-God and modern technological movement known as transhumanism. The two biblical scholars and spiritual deliverance ministers focus on this movements use of genetics, robotics, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology (GRIN technologies) to direct people to embrace god of science rather than the true God. And, they focus on the spiritual corruption that ensues. At its heart. This book is a superb book on the escalating spiritual warfare that rages on with the development of new technology and demonic subterfuge. The two focus on the demonic intent and evil application of these new technological advancements beliefs in order to corrupt creation, corrupt faith, redefine what it is to be human, introduce false embrace the concepts of transhumanism and post-humanism.. There is much time spent of ideologies that have been adapted by these new 'high priests' of the religion of modern science. The reader feels the menace of what is happening and what is yet to come as the battle is raging. I also appreciated the inclusion of excerpts from previous books that focused on exorcism, New Age influence, corruption of scripture, and the development of a new conflict: cosmists versus terrans. There is so much here as I have come to expect from any book that Thomas Horn writes. I liked the recommended additional reading list on the last two pages. Overall, this is an excellent book for the spiritual warrior.

This book was written in 2010 and today in 2018 we can already see some of it actually happening as smart phones are becoming an extension of man and soon we will see technology embedded in man and Transhumanism will be on us!

'Forbidden Gates' talks about the parallels between Noah's day and today.

A key scripture mentioned in the book is Luke 17:26: “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man.” (NKJV) The book details what happened in the days of Noah and draws a parallel to current trends in biology, computer science and related fields.

Only seven people believed Noah — his wife, his three daughters and his sons-in-law. The Horns are counting on significantly more believing them.

What was happening in the days of Noah? We meet Noah in Genesis 6:8, but four verses earlier we are told, “There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were mighty men whowere of old, men of renown.” (NKJV) The Hebrew for “giants” is Nephilim.

There are several schools of thought on who these Nephilim were. The authors follow an interpretation that agrees with the book of Enoch. Some of the early church fathers considered Enoch inspired, but ultimately it was not included in canon. However, the author of the New Testament book of Jude thought it sufficiently edifying to reference. Think of it as one of the top ten Jewish books of that era — pretty good teaching, but not actually part of the Bible.

The Horn's explain the development of GRIN technologies. That’s an acronym for Genetics, Robotics, Information and Nano technologies. It’s the vehicle of the Human Enhancement Movement, which the Horns document is heavily promoted by government and industry.

Examples of GRIN technology, some existing while others are in the planning stage, are human/animal hybrids, genetically modified foods (such as the addition of an insect gene into salmon DNA), a soldier who takes orders from a digital implant and the connection of human minds together into a hive mentality/super computer.

This is truly a must read that really opens your mind to a reality that is rapidly dawning on us. Is itv scary? That will depend on how we use this technology. There will be evil people use it for the wrong reasons but we need good people to counteract and make the world a better place.

I have mixed feelings on this book. It rehashes a lot I knew already (not the fault of the book), but the authors spend a lot of time with existing thoughts versus original thoughts. The original thoughts, while I sympathize with them, do not line up with current revelations in escatology, in my opinion. Again that isn't something I'm faulting the authors over. I do honestly recommend reading this book as it adds some more bits of knowledge to ones worlds view, and if nothing else, helps Christians better frame the transgenic debate in ones mind. I took two stars off though as I believe the authors's tie in to end times was very off base in regards to more plausible biblical theories.

Read this book about a year ago and plan on reading it again. There is just too much information to digest in one reading.

And VERY much worth a second read. I plan on researching and using some of this information in my next fiction book. If only what Thomas Horn wrote about was only fiction.
