I started off on the wrong note with this book. In the first section Rich strongly reminded me of the overly perky and enthusiastic exercise leader. You can be creative! You can develop a photographer's eye! Yes you can! Fortunately, he toned it down a little for the rest of the book.
Unfortunately, I didn't find his advice particularly helpful, or at least, it was nothing I hadn't already read by a better author. It's the first photography book I've read where I didn't find the majority of "correct" pictures to be appealing or interesting. The incorrect pictures weren't appealing or interesting, either.
There is one area in which this book absolutely excels and that's providing links to incredibly useful photography sites that offer everything from low cost backgrounds to helpful plug-in software and everything in between. If you're looking for that kind of information I highly recommend this book. The links are mostly scattered in the regular text so you'll probably have to do some skimming. I only gave 3 stars because while at the time of this writing the information is accurate and helpful I imagine a few years down the road the links may have changed, sites will have gone out of business, etc.

It wasn't terrible. Basically a quick review of basic photo techniques.
