Creepy and spooky... A bit hard to accept the ending, but was a spooky read and I liked it.

Another day, another episode of me getting my kindle-face on. I left the kindle alone after my initial kindle frenzy in March so I thought it was time to return.

Graveyard Games is available free on Amazon. I'm not on any of those "what-is-off-amazon-that-is-free-so-i-can-download-it-immediately-and-stuff-it-in-through-my-eyes-and-into-my-brain-box" type forums or groups so, how best to find out about free books on Amazon? Type the word "free" into the search box and you will invariably get a loa

Okay. I know I'm picky, or at least not a typical reader, but seriously? There are parts of this book that are pretty great--monsters, I always like, and the heroine as a fallen cop was a great start--and parts I loathe. If you can't anticipate the villain right away, and roll your eyes immediately and continue until they're making it hard to read aaaaaaaall the way through to the predictable end, I want to have a chat (not in a an-I'm-so-smart way, but I am genuinely curious). This story has be ...more

Luckily this book was free, that is all I can say. But before I go further, I did read this book in a day. I liked the beginning and thought that it was a gripping read. But then about 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way to the end, it started to get, for lack of a better word, weird. I think the "genre" of this book also added to the "wtf" ending. In the beginning, it was more of a drama/mystery, then progressed to a romance, then to paranormal, then to was hard to differentiate between what ...more

This book took a long time to get to its inevitable end. It wasn't bad, but it also didn't shine in any particular way. There were a lot of plodding conversations, and while this book falls into the horror/supernatural genre, it's mostly about grief and grieving.

There was finally, a little bit of action towards the end, but it was almost as if it was a rush-job. The author spent a lot of time, as I said, creating characters more through conversation than any other literary tool. Most annoying wa

I couldn't really choose shelves for this book because this book didn't know what it wanted to be.

It starts out as dramatic story about Dusty, a cop who has returned to her hometown to mourn her brother who has been killed.

It tries to be a romance at times, but that doesn't really work either...

The last bit is a horror story, with a monster in a cemetary that we never really figure out.

I got this free on ibooks, and probably would never have read it if not for that.

This was free on my Kindle and now I know why. Not the best book I've ever read, but at least it was a quick read.

In the book, Dusty has to leave her job as a police officer because of suspicion in her current case, in addition to the fact that her twin brother died in the graveyard. When she goes home, she realizes that her local police people aren't being totally honest with her so she finds herself going against her natural instinct by talking to her brother's best friend, who is really shady, in order to find out what really happened to her brother.
I liked this book because there was mystery and adventu

This was a free book on kindle, or I would not have picked it up. This probably immediately makes you realise that it isn't really the sort of thing I normally read. However, I did finish it, so it clearly isn't the worst book ever.

For me, it perhaps tried to be too many things. Was it a love story, was it a monster book...? A Mills and Boon style heroine who cried all the time even though she was supposed to be 'strong', and a stereotypical mean and moody hero didn't help... they were OK, but a

Fairly competent mystery/horror story, marred by naivete about AIDS in the year 2006. Author Shari Leigh has one character, a savvy, young attorney, coming home to die from the ailment. In these days of protease inhbitors and drug cocktails, it seems uninformed to not at least say the character had tried these treatments and they didn't work for him. It simply did not strike a credible note that someone would return home to die from AIDS in 2006, when most people are managing the virus, rather t ...more

I noticed all the negative reviews before I started reading this book but it didn't discourage me one bit and I'm super happy that it didn't!! I LOVED this book. It's an eBook I downloaded from iBooks but I'd love to have a hard copy for my collection.

I thought the story had very well developed characters and was well written. It was a mystery, thriller, paranormal, horror, and love story all in one - my favorite. I will definitely be reading more books from this author.

This was a free book on iBooks so I thought I would try it. I really didn't get interested in it until I was a third of the way through. I was entertained for a while until the big secret was revealed. The surprise was so stupid and b-movie I almost quit reading. Really the only reason I didn't is because it drives me nuts not to finish a book. I wouldn't recommend it.

Somewhat interesting but a big waste of time! Too bad I'm one of those people who 'has' to finish any book I start. Free Kindle material-no wonder!

Dusty is a cop, a detective working vice in Chicago. And then she gets suspended, and on top of that her twin brother is killed. A bobcat, they say. She returns home for the funeral and quickly decides that it was no bobcat. But why won't the sheriff tell her anything? And what's with her brother's best friend Shane, for whom Dusty has long held a special hatred? And if it wasn't a bobcat, then what was it?

This was my second foray into free Smashwords ebooks, and I find myself much more pleased

c2011. Graveyard Games by: Sheri Leigh was a twisting, turning adventure of a book that i could not pit down. I was captivated by the suspense and the way the character's prior relationships unfolded. I loved the mystery and revelation of just enough to keep you hanging on. I loved the book up until one problem at the very end, yet the rest was so suspensful i could forgive my small issue. The main female character was given such a build up as being a successful cop, yet at the end, in the cemetery at ...more

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, being as it was free, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I was actually very engrossed in the book almost the entire way through, I thought the storytelling was well done, the characters pretty well thought out. Some of the dialogue was a little weak, but overall I was enjoying the story and cared about the characters.

It was a fairly heavy plot that I knew was going to have a big ending, however as I was reading the book and seeing the number of pages lef

This book was exactly what I expected it to be. A fairly quick, easy read. Considering the fact that it was a free download, I didn't expect it to be the best book I ever read, but I did enjoy it. I thought the story was interesting and it held my attention. I think the author included some seriously unnecessary aspects in the story that seemed as if they didn't really fit in (the whole part about why her brother was home). Overall, it was a decent story. I enjoyed the chemistry between Dusty an ...more

I absolutely loved this book! Some of it was a little strange but how the characters are written makes me want to keep reading. I was defiantly surprised throughout the book. I love how Sheri Leigh writes Dusty. No matter how many times I read the book the ending always trips me up, is it a dream, do I pick my own ending, is it reality. I'm not sure and I can't decide. What I can decide is that I strongly believe this book should be made into a movie. I know some movies disgrace the book and the ...more

Dusty's life begins to fall apart when she is suspended from her job as a police officer and she gets a call from the small town in which she grew up to say that her twin brother Nick had been killed. Dusty returns to the town where she grew up and takes it upon herself to investigate the circumstances surrounding her brother's death; with help from her childhood enemy Shane.
I quite enjoyed this, although I thought after all the build up throughout the novel, the ending was quick and a bit spars

I download this book for free early in the year and forgot all about it.

As soon as I started reading it I found that I was intrigued to find out what had killed Dusty twin Nick.

Nick body was found in the graveyard, local police saying that a wild cat had killed him.

Dusty returning back to her childhood home wants to find the real murderer and will go to great lengths to find this especially when she suspects that Shane is hiding something.

Dusty also hiding the real reason to why she is in no rus

3.5 stars.

The first 80% of the book was GREAT! A real page-turner. I would give that part 5 stars. I was hooked right away and couldn't wait to find out "whodunit."

Then, unfortunately there was a little too much "reveal" for me at the 80% mark on my Kindle, and that scene seemed to take all the wind out of the suspense. There was just too much detail too soon I think. (I can't say too much more because I don't want it to be a spoiler).

Then from that point on the ending seemed to be a little t

Genre: Suspense

It was a little different ending I did not see comming that way. Dusty was suspended from being a cop with pay. Returned home town to bury her twin. while thier she wants to find what really happened to her brother. She believes Shane her brothers best friend was with him that night and knows what happened. thier has now been a few other murders that they are blaming on a bobcat. It is a moving piece and written really well. kept my attention till the end.

I thought the book started out with promise and had a good story line. However, as the book continued I was really lost and towards the end thought the 'horror' was just a laugh! In my opinion the 'love story' between Dusty & Shane was like watching a C flick horror film - the sex scences and teasing was so poorly written for a book. However, for a movie this would be spot on! The ending with the 'mission' as I will refer to it - was a laugh! I am not sure if I was meant to be scared or disg ...more

It was better than expected, and much better than the usual free ebooks that float around. There were two parts that were genuinely frightening, at least to me, and though it was predictable it was still enjoyable to an extent. the romance was blasé and boring, Dusty was annoyingly bipolar, and Sam's dialogue was irritating to read though it was done in such a way that showed us his "stupidity". (Still annoying). The beginning was interesting but it died out shortly after. A huge portion of the ...more
