Presenting major myth theorists from antiquity to the present, this work offers a cross-disciplinary approach to the study of myth. Rewritten and restructured, it reflects the increased interest in myth among both scholars and general readers since the publication of the first edition.
Although this book is extremely long, it is a great source of information for mythography. It discusses in detail several of the methods surrounding myth and provides plenty of sources for further reading. Doty provides a mostly balanced view and I find myself agreeing with the tone and purpose of the book.
