I borrowed this from the library to cook some stuff for my daughter's birthday - and it is quite something. I had never cooked Indian food before - but the recipes are quite simple (if time consuming) and very nice. Most of the book is a general introduction to food in India and how to cook Indian food - but the recipes at the back of the book are clearly presented and quite fun.

I particularly enjoyed making the breads - The Flaky Fried Bread was nice and involved lots of kneeding, which is also fun. The Chapati were good too. But the real treat, beside the curries I tried, was the Samosa. The pastry was easy to make and they tasted like samosa one would buy from a shop. Well, if I do say so myself...

Some recipes are ok - others you really have to tweak to get the flavors right.
